The new Doctor is fine, but there are at least a few other actors who I'd rather have play the Doctor. The top is Patrick Stewart. The second is any good actress, just for variety. Third is William Shatner.
Wait... I think I'm sensing a pattern.BlackJesus said:The top is Patrick Stewart. [snips] Third is William Shatner.
Like Kate Mulgrew?The second is any good actress, just for variety.
You got your Star Trek in my Doctor Who!BlackJesus said:The new Doctor is fine, but there are at least a few other actors who I'd rather have play the Doctor. The top is Patrick Stewart. The second is any good actress, just for variety. Third is William Shatner.
As a rule, I agree, but since I was a young'un, I really wanted to see Roger Daltrey of the Who play Doctor Who (Yes, I know he's not Doctor Who, he's the Doctor, but still).Colour Scientist said:I prefer it when the Doctor is played by some relatively unknown up-and-coming actor/actress. That doesn't mean that they necessarily have to be young, just low profile.
I like my Doctor to just be the Doctor rather than 'Patrick Stewart as the Doctor.'
I could probably express this in a more articulate way but hopefully you understand what I mean.
Thank you, you made my day.Baffle said:I would like to see Aaron Paul play the doctor. He is very into science.
Hmmmm. I would not have thought of this one, but I do really like the nomination of Mos Def. I'm not sure how good his English accent is, which may be too much change for some fans, but I've seen him in Hitchhiker's, and another film called 16 blocks (with Bruce Willis) and his performances are quite good.Cowabungaa said:After seeing his performance as Ford Perfect, I'm very very pro-Mos Def.

I mean, he basically already plays the Doctor in that movie. Though I wonder how he'd be different from Matt Smith in terms of characterization.
Pretty much this.albino boo said:Just to inject a note of realism here, the Dr will never be played by an American.
I thought the new doctor sounded Scottish, not British...?Sea Sponge said:Pretty much this.albino boo said:Just to inject a note of realism here, the Dr will never be played by an American.
No matter how much someone may wish it, The Doctor will always be British.
With that said .... Vinnie Jones because, I have no reason other than I want to see him headbutt a Cyber Man.
Scotland's part of Britain, so he's British for these purposes.BoogieManFL said:I thought the new doctor sounded Scottish, not British...?Sea Sponge said:Pretty much this.albino boo said:Just to inject a note of realism here, the Dr will never be played by an American.

I think Richard Ayoade is a fantastic idea!hazabaza1 said:Even though I don't watch the show I'd like to see Richard Ayoade since he's;
A) Black
B) So non-threatening it'd be funny to see how modern TV accepts him in a "serious" role.
For the elucidation of Mr BoogieManFL and other aliens, British means English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish. Its the collective name for subjects of the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.BoogieManFL said:I thought the new doctor sounded Scottish, not British...?
