That, and pretty decoration blocks. Tables, chairs, couches, flower pots, chandeliers, shelves and such. Maybe with color options on the furniture upholstery, changeable with dyes and wool. I don't care if I can actually sit in the chair or put stuff on the table. I just want something to decorate my well-constructed home :-\

Oh, and I want to be able to stack unlike slabs on top of each other in the space of one block. Slabs are half the size of a regular block. SO WHY CAN YOU ONLY STACK THE SAME ONES ON TOP. That completely defeats the purpose. If I wanted to stack two like slabs on top of each other, I would just use a full-sized block. I have a two story loft, and I'd like to have the ceiling of the first floor different from the floor of the second floor. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK?

A vertical half block is really the only thing I can think of that i'd like added, though some of the things mentioned in this thread sound pretty sweet. I'd also like if they added some multi-colored glass so I can make an awesome stained glass window of some kind.

Sponge - stops water within a 3x3x3 radius. Great for griefing griefers! :D

I know it's already in there but they removed it. I want it back. :(

Obsidian isn't hard to get, hell you can farm it. Get some lava and water in buckets, lay down a flat place to dump them both, and voila. You've got as much obsidian as you want. Just take a look at this handy video:

Anyway, I do agree with you, though. Obsidian should be used for something other than portals.

A Sphere. I know, i'm the Devil.

To be serious, I want a cube that has a spinning, hypnotizing effect.

Hose/pipes. I'm suprised nobody else thought of this. Acts like redstone wire, can be used to move water without taking a bucket everywhere. Could also add a faucet to stop and start flow. Lots of use for that.

anything that actually makes gold useful.....SERIOUSLY!!!!!!
Gold is used in booster rails, and a rail system with boosters is the best form of transport.

I don't know about blocks though, I would say what's more important are applications for raw materials, then introduce new blocks as new raw materials are needed.

I think he means like I mean that it is crazy that you need to hit an obsidian brick 16 times with a diamond pickaxe for it to break. Putting an obsidian brick in the wrong place just sucks.

Emerald block that are EXTREMELY rare, but when found can be used to make some sort of item that points the nearest diamond. (like the compass but instead of pointing to your spawn-point)

How about a detection ore? It would be as rare as diamond, but you can mix with items to detect different things, such as a diamond detector or something. Or better, combine with Mob drops to make a mob detector! You can then craft them into tools that detect specific things by glowing when near something, so you can make Sting from The Hobbit!

I always thought something like greenstone would be handy.
Literally the same as redstone in every way but doesn't join up with redstone.
Maybe also add a repeater-sized converter that switches it back to redstone (and vice versa).

This is something I thought up after trying to cram three seperate circuits into a very small space whilst completely surrounded by rooms that I couldn't use as space.
Just a spacesaver, really.

I still opt for a block, like a mattress, that when you fall on it you don't take any fall damage.
This would be really nice too. Much neater looking next to my (upwards only) elevator than a plunge pool.

A Horadric Cube. Crafting on the go,without having to place a workbench. Just equip, right click, and craft away. Made with obsidian surrounded by gold.

Or,a rucksack. Allows for doubling carrying capacity...But slows movement and restricts jumping,as well as a carry limit of one.. Made with 7 leather in an I shape, with 2 iron ingots on center left and center right.

Copper ore

Have copper ore, when mined, break into copper dust and tin. Combine copper dust and tin to make bronze ore. You could also smelt the copper by itself.

Bronze could be used in the upcoming customizable ships by giving them propellers for power. It could also be used to construct a diving suit to allow for underwater construction, or to create mirrors for decoration or to make flashlights. Make light bounce off copper mirrors so that it's intensified and can be seen farther away. Tools could also be made of bronze, and place them between stone and iron.

Copper could be used in electronics(possibly elevators,) to make pipes for water, and for decoration by having copper exposed to water or rain turn green.

I can't think of a block. Maybe some sort of cushion block for surviving long falls without water.

But something I really want is this.
HOOKSHOT!!!
I want a HookShot to be added to the game so badly. It would be so cool and awesome just to be able to reach far off places that you would either need to build some sort of bridge or ladder to get to.
I was going to try to think of something else, but I think I'll just quote this for the emphasis. This would be very awesome. Very, very much awesome. Not to mention building our various idols and monoliths would be much easier.

That would be so handy although it would kind of suck for anyone with red green colorblindness I think blue would work better.
