I'm 18, and I've never had one. Aren't those the ones with the chocolate in them?

What are they? Sickapedia is full of jokes about them, so I can only assume it's some kind of british thing that happens in December. Calendars full of chocolate, maybe? That sounds awesome, we should do that.
They're all over America, I thought...

They're thick cardboard things with chocolate in 24 slots. One for each day of December to Christmas.

I don't get them. We use a traditional advent calendar, with art instead of chocolate.
I dunno, maybe they are. They don't seem to be in this area, though. Lots of stuff like that, go down a few states and they won't know what spiedies are.

The age at which it is appropriate to stop getting advent calendars is the age they carve on my gravestone.

Advent calendars are always acceptable, except for those clingy ones that go all the way up to New Year's Day. What, like you didn't have enough indulgence on Christmas Day?!

I'm 22 and I have one. I'm fairly sure that there'll never be a year when I don't have one. If anything they're better for adults than children. When the whether is grey and cold and miserable and it's still dark for at least an hour more by the point you have to get up, having a small bit of chocolate gives you a little more incentive to get up.

Well, I'm apparently still young enough to be given a Cadburies one from my grandparents, and I'm certainly not going to waste it.

I'm not really sure whether or not I'll buy them in years to come. It'll all come down to the ratio of cost to mass-of-chocolate as compared to buying regular bars. And people say maths is useless... *rolls eyes*
