So yeah, Adventure Time's last episode(s) premiered earlier this week, and actually got a marathon of episodes, which is better than what Regular Show got.

I admit I haven't been keeping up with the show - not helped by Cartoon Network being allergic to good shows - so I was abit confused to what was happening. And the final boss kinda felt like it came out of nowhere.

One thing I really liked was that Simon and Betty were restored to sanity, though shortly after Betty sacrificed herself to save everyone. A bit anti-climatic... but at least Simon's okay, right? Poor guy still deserves better...

Oh, and Bubblegum and Marceline actually kissed, which was cool. If Steven Universe showed us anything it's that Cartoon Network is willing to be open-minded about that sort of thing...

I liked the montage towards the end, and having it set to the ending theme was a nice touch.

On the whole it was pretty good, though I wonder if the finale could have done better as miniseries... well, at least it got better treatment than what Samurai Jack got. (Seriously, did we really need two episodes of Dragonball Z?)

So yeah, what did you like and dislike about the finale?

As usual a topic on the Escapist wouldnt be complete without at least one person who came exclusively to tell everyone they didnt like the thing discussed.

On the finale...
I enjoyed the double bait and switch only to be followed with more or less a 'and everyone lives out their natural lives' montage. Kind of leaves a bunch of questions about the characters which were immortal or near immortal, but oh well.

Plus like, Im sure the internet will be real happy about that kiss, if fan art for the last few years is anything to go by.

Its at this point that I can safely say that:

Lesbianism is now offcially mainstream and normalized. Male Gays now have to catch up

Mind you I meant no offense when I say this, I just seem to notice the trend where one side is becoming more and more accepted in mainstream then the other.

Not a fan, I assume? Eh, to each their own.

I meant that the finale of Samurai Jack was relegated to a single episode immediately followed by Dragonball Z which took up precious timeslots. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough.

That is weird, kind of a double standard don't you think?

First of all, what happened to your avatar? I miss it. :(

Second of all...no. Like, not at all. I saw the first two seasons, and while season 2 is a bit more bearable, to me, it just struck me as a lot of screaming, a lot of noise, and our 'heroes' just being obnoxious twats. Maybe I just don't 'get' adventure time, maybe it gets better, maybe it's both or neither, but I'm afraid it's one of those things that I just can't understand why it's so popular.

I dont recall at what point the characters and stories start shifting from children's nonsense to actual character arcs and growth, but it's a definite thing.

I think from memory, I saw a fairly late episode and thought, hmmm what's this about. The early seasons only had hints of what had caught my interest initially, but were still pretty charming for children's stories. Plus, it does this thing where the characters change so gradually that the earlier stuff feels like it was worth it.

Honestly I thought the ending was fantastic, definitely better than the Regular Show ending.

I liked the bait n switch that we didn't get the war we were expecting, the show was never about that. Funny how I did wonder if BP and Gumbal could had coexist if they were place in a realm where they cannot phyiscally harm each other, basically if they were to talked it out.

Also man, there were a few details I had forgot about the show! For one thing I forgot that nightmare juice Jake was holding onto (had to look up that it was from the Element miniseries).

I also didn't quite get why the bubblegum aunt betray Gumball in favour to coexist with BP? I mean in the previous episodes she was the one that came up with trick with dozzing Finn in glitter dum dum juice that he would of been in contact with BP? I can only guess that her intention that she just want a resolved with the conflict than to prolong it that Gumball was going to do?

For the whole BP and Marceline shipped is fully canon, I feel that was an up you to CN by Penn! Granted I guess 10 years does mean progressed in terms of LGBT and also there's Steven Universe for that aswell.

Speaking of the relationship, Simon and Betty was bittersweet to say the least! I find it somewhat ironic that they spend 1000+ to find and reunite each other. I mean corrupt Simon was trying to find her before he became Ice King and when she time travel to the present, she in turn try to seperate the crown from Simon. Now we back in somewhat full circle that Simon is trying to find her again (I forgot that basketball bin in Prismo room meant his wish was unsuccessfull).

BMO song was FANTASTIC which was wrote and sang by Rebecca Sugar! It just summed up my feeling on the final! I mean while I am sad that it's over by from seeing the ending montage, I can find peace that it's not the end for them especially their world! I mean the intro and segement with Shermy and Beth means the characters we loved maybe gone in the future but their world still continue on! Granted there is one mystery I would liked to know is the whereabout on Marceline in Shermy and Beth era? I mean those two are living in her house and she is immortal? I can only guess she just moved out? Also thinking of that does make me feel sad for her in that she must of witness Finn and Jake death and possible BP aswell (unless she become immortal too)!

Also with Shermy and Beth, I can easily see them either doing more graphic novel on those two and their world or maybe an anniversary one shot like they did with PPG (CGI) pior to the reboot!

My only nikpick is in there credit, there is no another relationship moment with Finn and Huntress Wizard, my new favourite ship! Granted on the other hand, it seen some people are gloomy over Finn relationship in the end. They are assuming he is forever alone. For me I don't see it like that. I mean for him to see his races finally arrived in the Land of Ooo means there is hope for him when it come to his people. Even then he was 16/ 18 so I don't feel like he need to be in a relationship in that age for say when it to finding a wife.

Liked it or not, the show has a major influence to the cartoon industry more way than one. Not only we got the simplify styles today but many of the shows alumnus depart to make their own shows in returns like Rebecca Sugar Steven Univere, Over the Garden Wall, Bravest Warrior, OK KO and Bee and Puppycat!

Is my response any better?

One of the reasons why I semi left/ back to lurking is the current state of the community on this site.

First off, thanks for the comment. However I felt like changing my avatar (having had it for a while) but no matter what I try I keep getting the broken image. Any tips?

And second, I can see why the show wouldn't resonate with people. It did get better... but I guess it's not for everyone. (Shrugs)

I thought it could have been longer (hence the comment about Dragonball Z taking up the time slots) and poor Ashi deserved better... on the whole it was pretty good, if a little bittersweet. It wasn't perfect but I still liked it for the most part.

I have completely different story in my head with how the finale would play out with the premise and plot that Season 5 presented.

Basically the whole thing changes after Episode 3.

not really. Your avatar looks fine to me though (in that it's showing a star with "Hamilton" on it), but I prefer astronaut bubble head guy.

Wait, really? For some reason it's not showing up for me...

(And it was a guy in an advanced suit underwater but close enough)

I definitely feel like I watched the finale of Game of Thrones after only seeing the first 2 seasons.

Of Finn's 4 nightmare figures, it was his father, the lich, I guess the bad side of Bubblegum, but what was the 4th?

They need to show more reruns of Adventure Time, like seriously. Look, I actually genuinely like Teen Titans Go, but I have seen the Driver's Ed episode a bajillion times, but they almost never show reruns of Adventure Time or Stephen Universe (beside the Cat Fingers episode). These shows are so plot heavy so I feel very out of the loop and it creates this downward spiral where I don't watch the new episodes cause I missed the old episodes so when new new episodes come out I miss those too! (I am also severely behind on Steven Universe)
