They don't bother me, I don't have DVR or anything so I'm used to TV commercials and these web ads are just basically that. Yeah sometimes it's a hassle, but at least they load somewhat fast (unlike the YouTube ones...), and I don't really pay attention/notice the banner ads. It's either that or cut down on content/make it a pay-site

It seems to me a lot of the advertising on Escapist is pointless. Aside from perhaps alerting me that a game I'd been waiting for for over a year has recently come out [I generally know the quarter, not the exact date] the advertising is a waste.

It's a gaming website. Most of us here follow games fairly closely and have a good idea of what we plan to get and what we plan to avoid. Seeing Duke Nukem plastered all over the video frames isn't going to incite in me an urge to purchase. Nor is showing me the Skyrim trailer a billion more times going to make me want to buy the game anymore.

I'm glad it pays the hard workers behind the scenes at Escapist, but as for efficiency; not so much maybe.
They used to be really annoying, especially the bloody video ads which show up before the main video you selected.

I think you are making far too big a deal out of this to be honest.

If the escapist didn't have all the adds on it we would either all have to pay to access the website or accept the fact that to pay for the time and other expenses of this website such as the time of the writers editors and well i will say actors and review writers Ect.

The likes of James, Alison and Daniel from extra credits, Yahtzee or even the Loading Ready Run crew they all need to be payed for things like time or props and game costs so they can keep up with demand for up to date reviews and new topics and videos even props and trips to events like PAX.

And to be honest i don't mind the ads as long as they pay to keep everything up and running and keep the accessibility of the content of this website to a maximum. Although it is a bit of a pain to wait for the ad to finish playing before you can watch the video you have selected to watch on this website but that is just a matter of fact we must accept however inconvenient it can be.

I personally think the type of adverts need changing.

Why the hell am I trying to get sold a $40,000 Range Rover when I'm watching a video about my role as a player of video games. JESUS I'D BEST RUN OUT AND BY THAT RANGE ROVER RIGHT NOW.

Oh wait, no, it just leaves a distate in my mouth, and feeling like the Escapist is giving me the middle finger.

Here is one right back <3
