Hey everybody, both I and username sucks are using this summer as an opportunity to expand our nerdiness (I think that is a word someone used once) to even greater heights. What better way than to explore the magic land of Netflix? Where we have so many great series that reside.
So, what do you guys want to refer us to? We really want something we can be really invested in to want to see all the episodes of, or possibly allow it to be short so we can see it all in 1 week. We just need you to share your fandom and give us a recommendation.
There are no clearly defined rules, but here's some recommendations (for your recommendations)
1)I was thinking probably something animated, whether new or old, western or Japanese, would do well since I think we both enjoy the medium well enough and it can be very wide in what it covers. But non-animated series like Breaking Bad may work too if it is investing enough for you.
2)We both simply enjoy good characters over a driving and cohesive plot, it's somewhat why I think Bioshock 2 is underrated in the series, but hey I know I've got unpopular opinions. The characters don't even really need to be relate-able, just good and likable, unless they are villains, we also really like over the top jerkish villains. A good to great plot would be appreciated, just not the biggest priority to us.
3) User doesn't like Dragon Balls, his main gripe being the "increase your power level to defeat this guy" thing and how long the show would go on for. If you recommend anime, try not recommending something like this.
4) An interesting setting would be nice, I'm not saying realism isn't an option, but user and I are gamers and therefore like to suspend disbelief a bit, although he also doesn't like it when media talks about a scientific subject and doesn't get it right at all, dna holding memories being an example.
5) The show being big and popular with a good and loyal fanbase is almost completely necessary to what we want to do. So yeah, try not to go so obscure.
Yeah, so that's about it. For some recommendations on shows neither of us have really watched that we know are popular is MLP, several of the Netflix exclusive content shows, and Breaking Bad, but feel free to post anything, at anytiime from here to maybe August. Who says we can't become fans of more than 1 show if we get through it fast enough?
Thank You,
Atlas' Heart
