I, like most other teens, have been cursed by the affliction of zits. Does anyone know of any treatments or specific products that work well with outbreaks?

Accutane and other pharmaceutical derivatives of vitamin A work wonders. You might have to jump through hoops to get it, but it seriously works. Screw "toxins", homeopathic and "natural" remedies, they can't shake a stick at it.

Zits during puberty usually have very little to do with bad hygiene.

Acne is perfectly normal for a teen. You aren't "un-hygienic" in any way.

That being said, just try to exfoliate your face with a cleanser at least three times a day. Sing the ABC's 4 times as a timer....

It's what I do to hold my zits at bay, anyway.

Safeway brand Oil Free Acne Wash. It's cheap as hell and works like magic. Just use it every day in the shower, preferably after shaving but it doesn't really matter. I've been using it for a few weeks and haven't gotten a single zit since then. It takes a few days to notice the effects though, so have patience.

Accutane, hell yeah, that stuff is like a miracle in pill form.
Your skin gets insanely dry, but it is sooooo worth it.

First tip is to wash your face first thing every morning (all the grease builds up in the night you see) and at any other time your face is greasy, the reason for acne is the production of extra oils and such during puberty so you're not unhygienic.

Second tip is to buy some products like clearasil and make it part of your daily "cleaning ritual" (brushing your teeth and such).

Yeah. I'm thinking about going on it for a bit, my skin is really oily all the time so I don't think I'd have trouble with the dryness as much. I know someone who has been on it for ages and his skin is always perfect, sometimes he gets dry spots but it's never really noticeable.

(I hope i smelled that right) how i read the title at first.

Acne outbreaks are normal, certain things do effect the likelihood and severity of the outbreaks. A few good things to remember are;

Don't touch your face
Get some sunshine (yes getting outside and exercising actually does prevent acne)
Your diet.
Not having a sedentary lifestyle.
Clean clothes, and this is a huge one, clean bedding; pillow cases, sheets, ect.

These are good things to remember, I know as a gamer i spend too much time in doors but sitting on your ass inside all day isn't actually good for your skin.

Oxy worked wonders for me but I know a couple people for whom it was ineffective. Oxy is hit or miss but it's still worth a shot.

Bleach, and lots of it!

It is a mostly natural thing for a teen. I didnt get alot when I was a teen, and some people just dont.

But as you seemingly are, it is not an indication of an unsanitary lifestyle. Just clean yourself, perhaps use an astringent and accept that it is a normal part of growing up for the largest majority of people.

Welcome to the beginning of adulthood, it only gets worse and more tedious from here :)

Honestly, it depends on the severity of your acne.

You should really see a dermatologist first. If you have very severe acne, then the dermat can actually give you prescription medication to take.

If you do not feel like going to a dermatologist (even though you should), once of the best acne products our there is ProActive. It's a three step acne fighting program, but most people I've known who've taken it have seen incredible results.

I will give you some advice to avoid future breakouts:

-Do not put your hands on your face! You hands have excess oils and germs that will cause your face to break out.
-If your face itches, don't scratch it with your fingernails. The only thing worse than your hand is your fingernails. Underneath those nails are an abundance of booty shakin' germs just waiting to give you a pimple or two.
-Make sure you wash your face after you exercise, or if you just happened to sweat. Doing this will reduce pimples!
-Wash your pillow case and sheets regularly. You know that your body oils begin to stack up on your pillow case and sheets, right? Well wash those suckers and you'll be acne free, and you bed will smell AWESOME.
-Wash your face with a cleanser before you go to bed and as you wake up.

Suave Shampoo for Men.

Just lather it onto your face and voila! After a day or two, your face stays clear for a week. I swear by the stuff.
