OT: If you want to write an asexual character, simply never approach the subject. Let your reader work it out for themselves. Don't make your asexual character the antisocial, awkward member of a group of friends, because asexuality and introversion are in no way the same thing. Simply never have them talk about the fact they're single, and don't put them in 'comic' situations where they feel awkward around being asked out.
You can be asexual in the same way I'm straight. I don't shuffle awkwardly or go bright red when a guy asks for my number, I simply respond with "Sorry mate, I'm taken." No reason to make a scene about it, and I could have said "I'm straight" but it wasn't really relevant. An asexual character who is used to being approached in such a way might also use the 'taken' excuse, even if they might not be, after all, "I'm asexual" is going to work a total amount of never in a situation like that. Either the person will take it as a challenge or they'll assume it's an excuse and take offence.
