It's not even that, if Mazty had said that a lot of Africans are unfortunately uneducated I would have had to say he was right, but he pretty much said that Africans are completely devoid of the kind of common sense that most animals have.

I know very little about africa except for Sudan.
My city has the highest number or ratio (can't remember which) of Sudanese immigrants in the USA. We took refugees a while back and they decided to stay. Then their families came then their families came and so on.

All I know about africa as a whole is it's really really hot and there are all kinds of epidemics/wars.

I'm afraid to go there because of the wars and because I would likeley burst into flames in that sun.
How about a nice Safari in Zambia? Never had a war! Take your family with you for a one week safari, the price is cheap and as long as you follow your guide you won't get hurt at all... promise!
Well that's good. I still fear you're harsh and mighty sun, though.

As I've said before, that kinda stuff does tend to happen from time to time since the plumber does not have any kind of education, and just wants to be helpful.
Listen, I don't care if you haven't gone to school a single day in your life, the kind of example Mazty presented was just far fetched. As stated before, you don't need to go to school to learn common sense.
Yes, the specific Example Mazty used was weird, and I've never heard nor seen anything like it. I'm just saying that he has in general a point. A better example is the plumber who is telling my mother that "yes, but it no longer leaks" with a happy smile on his face. I'm not saying he is lacking common sense, but that he doesn't want to tell my mother that he can't fix it, and that many Zambians don't want to disappoint you.

Not Good, that is true in a lot of parts in Africa. Especially South Africa,
Cpt_Oblivious, Temperature ranges from 13 (coldest) to 30+ during the dry season, and in Zambia at least the people are VERY friendly,
TopHatTim, I've heard the expression "first world countries" more than I've heard the expression "Developed world", the "third world" is sometimes referenced to as "developing countries".
As for Scamola, I've never had anyone try to sell me Ak's, Zambia has never had a war, but I can tell you that it is very easy to get Marijuana in Kenya.
Yep, now I know why those Olympic Marathon Runners are all from Kenya; it's the marijuana!

Man...this is very hard to ask a serious question without sounding like racist! Oh well, answer them if you would like, and I do not mean to sound racist, I am just curious.

Do you have a functioning society in Zambia?
Do you have a real house?
Is there lots of drugs and killing?
Is there lots of AIDS?
Have you heard of Invisible Children?
What sports do you play?
What do you do for your down-time?
Are you apart of the local militia?

Then go during the rainy season, not exactly the best time to see animals, but the sun is often away... and the hailstorm of rain is SOOOOO nice to hear on your roof, and to get soaked in ten seconds. (that was neither irony nor sarcasm)

Yes,
I live in what you would call a small mansion, a large house with a swimming pool,
I can only speak for Zambia, but I never heard of a killing, and i did not hear of drugs that often, I can say that in South Africa there is a lot of violent crime,
Yes, there is a lot of AIDS and phobia about AIDS, and help programs, and grass root programs to help people learn about AIDS,
Never heard of them,
I didn't play sports when i lived in Zambia, xcept for Tennis sometimes, though our School had an awesome swimming team, and some even swam in the national team,
In my spare time i would play games, watch tv, read, play with my cat, etc.
Neither I, nor anyone i know has heard of or is part of local militia. Zambia does have an... okayish army? There is more than a guy with a pointy stick, and they do have tanks.
Np to answer these questions, it's just these kinda things i want to sort out. That, and to attract attention to Zambia (used to be one of the richest countries, and has never had a war)

A friend of mine spent some time overseas in Africa doing social construction work. The focus of the charity organization he worked for was to build and introduce a geographically feasible waste management service, since at the time, in the area, there was none.

One of the interesting things, in the more stable areas of Africa, is that while they sort of 'missed out' on the industrial revolution, they've been able to leap-frog certain technologies. For instance, while lacking a wired telephone system, they have been able to construct relay towers all over the place and cellphones have really taken off.

The country has a lot of collective promise, but it is still plauged by interminable civil war and pandemic disease.

That's about the extent of my knowledge of the place.
Don't know which country you are speaking off, but Zambia has no civil wars, though Congo does. It's mostly central Africa that has war problems.

But that's different, it doesn't denote a lack of common sense, just a willingness to not let down. It's probably more of a cultural thing.

How are you so blessed as to live in a large house with a swimming pool?

Anyone who moves to any African Country, from a first world country, is able to live like i do because it's cheap, and it's how we live. A compensation for the lack things that we don't have, e.g. in Lusaka there is only one Cinema, one bowling alley, and one laughable shopping mall. With the money you are making now, in Zambia it's a fortune and thus you live as if you had a fortune.. in some aspects.

I've been told by people who've been living in South Africa for 30+ years, and other people who've lived in other places that the Africans seem devoid of logic.
I'm not saying they're bad people, just if you tell them to take a suitcase through a door, they'll get it stuck, not realising that they have to turn it (an actual example that's been seen).
Odd, maybe lack of education during development.
Wow, that isn't racist at all. That sounds like the kind of stuff white colonialist would tell back home to justify what they were doing.

this is ignorance at its best,
africans just becuase some may not grow up with education becuase they might step on a landmine on their way to school or affraid of being pulled into a militious rebellion doest stop them from having common sense.
Is it ignorance? How many people have you spoken to who have lived in Africa? Are you sure I'm the one being ignorant?
yes it is actually, very ignorent.
my ex boss lived in south africa for 25 years he was born there and raised.
one of my good friends before i moved to UK was african had moved to canada a year before i left.
One of my other friends same case just 10 months before i moved.
my dad spent a year in kenya and lybia.
and my sisters bestfriend was also south african and lived in africa for the first 15 years
of her life and shes 18 now.

so yeah i know people from africa...ive also spent a vacation in africa...

so yes your being ignorent saying that africans are uneducated and stupid.
But as I was generalising I was talking about the average African, who clearly doesn't leave the country like all the people you know....
And ask those people what the intelligence/logic of the average african is, from tehir experience as those example don't actually show anything other than you know non-average people from Africa...
Scamola, the type of generalising you are doing is also offensive. Not every African country has the problem of landmines and rebellions,
Mazty, you're not being racist, but you are wrong in thinking that most africans lack logic because it's only a few people, and they are often just trying to help. With all the stories i've heard firsthand, I could say that all citizens of the U.S lack any common sense or logic whatsoever.

It's messed up in aload of places now, but it will be our saving grace when they get their act together. We need it for farm land and ecological projects. Also its a great place for solar power and testing new social designs and infastructures. Also we need enviromental projects there to help species of plants and animals.
Seriously. You sound more than just a little ethnocentric. "when they get there act together"? So the rest of the world is just sitting by for Africa to "get its act together" so we can exploit them further. I hope that I just misunderstood what you said. If not I hope other people have called you out as well.

Meh, that's mostly the stupid South Africans if you pay attention to the accent (I'm assuming you're talking about Far Cry 2 and not being serious)
