After watching tonights Grey's Anatomy. Is a man allowed to defend himself against a woman?

I'm going to point out here and now that my brother is a feminist. He believes in equality between the sexes before the law and society.

Doesn't sound like any feminist I know of.

So wait, now you're getting around the thorny problem of numerous feminists coming out and saying that they're on your side by saying, "Well they're obviously not REAL feminists because REAL feminists are all man-hating harpies"?

Well, shit. I had a whole eloquent argument written out about how I should be able to punch women with moral impunity because they're taking away my rights, and goddamnit, I sure like my rights.

You mean to tell me that feminists are not trying to enslave and kill the male sex? I find that proposal totally unpalatable and irreconcilable with my current world view and I would thank you to not bring it up again.

A cursory search of sexual dimorphism in wikipedia suggests that women have 40-60% the upper body strength of men.[footnote]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_dimorphism#Humans[/footnote] All things equal, a man punching a woman is going to do significantly more damage than the other way around.

Like I said previously, if you legitimately feel threatened, then defend yourself. Otherwise restraining the violent party or removing yourself from the situation is always going to be the better option.
