Actually, yes. It has happened to me!
VaudevillianVeteran, Sassafrass, and Lambi have all made me feel all small and useless inside!
I think the OP's point is proven (that post count really doesn't matter - ok that might not have been his point but I'm using it as a basis for this post) when I can claim I've never seen nor known of any of these three posters despite them being, apparently, those with the highest post count on the site. Then again, when you have an RP and game forum that practically encourages (in some threads) one word answers, and user groups that act almost as an IM group it's not hard to see why post counts are so high.

I'd like to think my post count is reasonable; what will no doubt be 5000 posts in just under 2 years. I do, however, take peoples join date with a little more prestige than post count however.

You have quite a lot of post counts. You whore.

Just kidding, but there are two ways of getting hella lot of post counts. Flailing posts around, or discussing a lot on threads. Replies 'n' stuff. So, it's hard to tell really.
Theres more than Two.

Forum games are good Count Padding (I very rarely go in there, Its a jungle in there with its own community)
User Group posting adds to your post count, and if you join the Asylum/Priate, You could easily make a few 100 posts a day in there talking about random stuff.
General Chit-Chat. posting on EVERY thread takes dedication (Hence why im not everywhere XD)
Quoting - a thread where you only post 1 comment all of a sudden turns into 3-4 per thread.

Also, Arguements help your post count, But usually annoys mods, So thats a careful one.

I joined these forums before it was the cool thing to do, I'm so trendy!

Still haven't broken a thousand posts though. Give it another year and I oughta cross that barrier!

As others have said before me, I've been here ages, I just don't often post. If what I have to say would be rendered irrevelant (either by sheer volume of response or by having exactly what I've got to say stated already in the thread) then I don't bother to write anything.

I like to think that I contemplate my posts, and that they have some value/relevance... Or I'm just deluding myself...

There's different habits to be found when it comes to posting on forums. ... Having said that, I'm sure there's a paper to be written and an enormous grant to be made for someone capable of being arsed to do so.

I only tend to reply to threads/topics that are both interesting to me and that I know about/have experience in. That way I can help where needed and discuss where appropriate!

Indeed. (Normally I wouldn't have posted this but I recently watched a clip form SG1 and I couldn't resist "doing a Teal'c")

Well, IdealistCommi joined a few days after I did and he has WAY more posts on the forums than I do. So yeah, I've seen the whole "age and post count" thing.

Though from what I've heard, if you go into Forum Games a fair bit, then you can rack up quite the post count in a short time.

Post count means nothing; it's the amount of time you've spent here and on the forums. It's better to be here for a long time than have a large post count.
Just because of your avatar:
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

OT: But that is supposed to be how I measure my proverbial internet . . . anyway I agree with you about 94.3% because if the person has a large post count but all his posts are meaningful and not random BS

But wouldn't that mean you're more of a lurker and wouldn't contribute as much? I see where you're going but Post count does mean something

I've been here for 1 year and I have what, 2000 and over posts? Mine does add up

Post count means how much of an active member of the community you are. It's, however, not a free card to awesomeness (unlike on the Nexon forums, where you're ranked by being in the top 10/25/50/etc. and being top 10 grants insta-fanboyism and having backup to anything you say (yes I was top 10 before I got banned for e-brutalizing a moderator)).

In other forums I frequent, many of the mega-poster counts come from forum games role playing stuff. I think the same holds true here.

Most of my points come from making inflammatory statements in order to get quotations, the real crack of this site.

So, I'll say something inflammatory now and see what happens in the morning.

All consoles are baby toys for baby gamers, especially the playstation and xbox. Those are like putting fire stripes on a baby rattle.
