I still have my AoE1 somewhere... think it's still in the kitchen of all places for some reason... and I can't remember why I put it there ><. (Probably was in a stack of paperwork).

RTSes in general don't seem to age as much as other games do.

I play AoeII on lans from time to time, allthough the game is practically one big balance issue.

No, not at all. Creating a glorified version of Evony fully realized in The Adventure's of Peter Rabbit graphics doesn't constitute a good game. Nor an installment of Age of Empires either, to be frank.

I've always liked the second game better, but the first was pretty good. Not being able to build gates was pretty retarded though.
