i was on steam this morning (where i am its morning) and i stumbled across this on the front page

http://store.steampowered.com/app/266840/?snr=1_702_4_

I have all the hype for this. hopefully the also do the Titans expansions.
But how do you guys feel. Or more to the matter how many people here actually heard of this game or even played it?

I love the idea, but the price is making me feel more inclined to wait for a Steam sale.

I loved that game when I was shorter and had trouble with stairs. This [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZtytj8c77o] was my favourite jam and the Norse were my favourite faction. They sure knew how to please the gods.

That Age of Mythology? Yeah, I remember it. I bought and played it back when it was new. Or new-ish at least.

Honestly, it was pretty much the same as every other RTS. I dunno, maybe one has to be a connoisseur to appreciate it.

I do remember some of the mythical units being fun though. The ones who could pick up enemy soldiers and fling them about.

I loved Age of Mythology, in no small part due to its story campaign. I'd never seen an RTS pull storytelling that way, with clearly defined, relateable characters and dramatic weight in their actions and such a great scope in the story. I even found the in-game cutscenes novel. The eye-level medium shots gave it a nice cinematic vibe. Back then I used to the AoE method of "narration over stills" kind of storytelling, so AoM's approach blew me away. The expansion added a couple of cool things to the quick matches but the campaign was comparatively lacking, although it was nice that it was a sequel to the original one.

Anyway, love AoM, nice to see it's still a thing and we'll be getting another one apparently.

Well I suppose after how well the Age of Empires remake went this was inevitable.

Might pick it up, I remember having some good fun with AoM.

Reread the store page. The Titan edition is included.

But I'll pick this up once it becomes cheaper. I can't justify paying twenty bucks for this. It's a fun game, just I get bored rather quickly.

Having to deal with steam and steam workshop hardly seems worth the few graphical updates and price tag.
They'd have to do MUCH better than that to beat my original non-drm, freely-moddable game+exp.

Aw frickin yesssssssss.
Loved this game since pretty much forever.

I used to like playing as the Norse to give myself an extra challenge as I was never great at gaining Favour using them. But then I'd build up my giant wolf army and take over the world.

Ya...I had a feeling that the titian expansion was included but i didn't examine the steam page since i had to go and just wanted to get this post up fast.
As for paying $20 i can justify paying for the multiplayer and mods. But i might just wait for summer steam sale since i have a lot of school work and summer is just right around the corner.

pffft. It?s all about the Egyptians. And their 2 flying units which are the only good flying units in the game.

Yah, because the original didn't have either of those.

I can understand that it's not possible to buy anywhere else, but it's not like the now-disbanded game developer studio is getting any money out of this cheap cash-in by Microsoft.

It's hard to argue against having a fun game released digitally. The price tag's probably going to be justified by the massive potential of the Steam Workshop, so hopefully a bunch of people will get into the campaign creator like the good old days.

Norse were the best faction hands-down. You don't pass up the opportunity to launch an army of giants at your opponent's fortifications and have foot soldiers build a city right beside their walls! Loki's trickle of mythical units didn't hurt, either.

But... it never left.

Glad that new folks are getting to play it and all, but I've gotten my hardcopy to work just fine on all three of my operating systems with minimal effort. As others have said, the price they're asking for a slightly modernized version of an 11-year-old game is pretty damned high... and I seriously doubt they've fixed the netcode, which was always the biggest problem with Age of Empires games and spinoffs.

No, but the new developer who worked on Age of Empires III might.

Seriously, do you really have to drag an entire thread down just because you don't like Steam and/or Microsoft? You still have the original game, good for you. A bunch of other people likely don't, and this is going to be a convenient way for them to legally be able to play it. What do you gain by getting all cranky about it?

While I'm incredibly excited about this, $30 is way too high. $20 was too much for AOE2 HD, since it was just a touch up of a 15 year old game. While the screenshots look a bit nicer than AOE2 HD did, that's still at least $15 too high and is basically just steam sale fodder for me. Also Colossi own.

I'm not sure if your location is an issue, but amazon has it for $9. There's no multiplayer for it, but you still get the game and expansion pack with all the mods already out there. That may be something if you don't want to deal with steam.

Didn't Ensemble make AOE3?

So, since the original devs won't be getting money, it's not worth re-releasing for those that want to play?

What, do you just want us to pirate it? -____-

OT: I never played, but seeing how much I liked the Age of Empires II re-release, I'll probably end up getting this at some point. I had a friend who would not stop playing it back when it first came out.

Starting as the norse is like picking Charmander as your starter. At first it's hard, but later on you start plowing through shit xD

Plus they had the fire giants and the Nidhogg. Best myth units :D

Having said that I mostly chose the greeks. Just throwing people at a building to pray was pretty easy XD

Pardon me, you're right, I got a little mixed up.

Still, keeping money from a new developer out of spite for the publisher is ridiculous anyway.
