ok disturbed is touring Aus. And i cant go cus all the venues are age restricted.
same thing with last night behind crimson eyes were playing in town along with Z.D.A.F. and again i couldnt go because i am still underage.
i think they would make more money if they let others in.
still i know this thread will not move me sany closer to getting where i want to be.
so im gonna sit here and cry like the emo i am. XD

There's reasons why they have age limits, of course. Not only is it because of the obvious 'some of this content may be inappropriate for children', but the mosh pits at said venues can be really damn intense for kids. Furthermore, bars at these places really do get sick to death of having to ID everyone there, so putting an age limit gets rid of that need.

Not letting anyone under the age limits helps alleviate liability. Like Melaisis said, it would be pretty bad if a kid got trampled in the mosh pit, or a bar would lose their liquor license (in the US anyway, I'm not familiar with Aus alcohol codes) if they served to a minor.

Also, no one likes a whinny emo kid.

I work on a bar at an events centre and I can safely say it makes my job so much easier when I know there's an age restriction. Plus like Melaisis said the mosh pits can get pretty damn frantic. The amount of times I've come away from gigs with injuries (concussed twice) is quite hilarious. Guess it just sucks til you're old enough.

Unforunately for you, you'll just have to be patient. Then make up for lost time once you hit 18.

Or hit the stadium gigs, you might not quite get the bands you want, but the bigger venues don't tend to be age restricted. Or you can always go see My Chemical Romance...

The only reason im excided about turning 18 is so I can go to more gigs!
And obviously that you can drink... right?!

This year's Damnation festival (with Carcass, Berzerker, Napalm Death and My Dying Bride) is only 14 restricted.

I suppose while age restrictions will annoy those underage, if the benefits outweigh excluding a group of fans then I suppose it's a fair injustice, if you get what I mean.

I think that statement is a little false- some people do, as long as people aren't unbearably whiney. Also lots of open minded people like emos. Finally lots of people like kids.

ZDAF usually have no age restrictions.
but usually its only its real die hard fanboys (eg me) that turn up.
this usually amounts to about 50 people. lulz

Funnily enough, age restrictions at gigs were how straight-edgers got their iconic black 'X' symbol. Many of the hardcore bands that made up the scene were underage, so club managers would draw black x's on their hands to indicate to bar staff they were to be served soft drinks only.

Not really on topic, but interesting all the same.

I can't go to see Joe Satriani, and he doesn't even have violent themes or 'politically incorrect' language! Because it's in a club. Naturally, I enter a club I must be the sort of underage fellow that hands out pills, gets drunk and urinates on other patrons. I can totally see eye to eye with you, man!

Satch is firkin 52, man! There is no way he's gonna jump up and down screaming, encouraging me to eat a baby in the name of Satan whilst setting fire to the venue. For shame Australian government.

The age restriction is understandable, but what nil said was a good idea. Perhaps not allowing young people at the front where most of the moshes are.
