Name: Neil Dominic Reetz
Gender: 28
Age: Male

Powers: Simply put, his size. Neil was born with a unique variation of gigantism, which while leading to the increased size, also seemed to be free of the usual health complications. Unlike meta-humans of comparable build his strength is due to a serious fitness routine.

Appearance: He stands 9'2" tall, and pins the scales at 804 lbs of bone and muscle looking like an oversized professional weightlifter. Other than his size he's your basic all-American farm boy, with a slightly ruddy complexion. A wide angular head is covered with close cropped black hair, framing slate grey eyes.

Off-duty he normally wears a basic S.H.I.E.L.D. jumpsuit large enough to fit him. His combat armour is a massive slab sided unit with armour usually reserved for mechanized cavalry vehicles. The left forearm of the suit contains a collapsible ballistic shield that covers him from head to toe when in a crouch. The shield is capable of deflecting or stopping most small arms fire and shrapnel but concentrated fire, heavy calibre, or anti-armour weapons are still a serious threat. The shield also features a cut-out by his left hand, allowing him to fire while behind cover. The armour also mounts three 25mm smoke grenade launchers on each shoulder for optical cover, turning Neil into essentially a bipedal L.A.V.

Neil carries a M320 25mm Heavy Support Weapons System, (S.H.I.E.L.D. offshoot of the XM307 ACSW project.) Between his naturals strength, and the suits augmentation he can carry the machine gun like a combat rifle, with the weapon feeding from a 500 round box on his back. The 25mm smart rounds allow him to engage both soft and light armoured targets at ranges out to 1400 yards, firing a mixture of standard slugs, AP rounds, HE, and air-burst fragmentation shot. As a sidearm Neil carries a modified S.H.I.E.L.D. issue submachine gun, with a much larger trigger and grip for his larger hands.

Bio: Born and raised in a small town in Kansas, Neil's mutation was evident from birth as a 10 pound baby (much to his mother's dismay). Despite his rapid growth life was relatively normal for him, helping around his parent?s farm, high school football, you know the usual. Like so many small town youth, he dreamed of going out into the wider world when he grew up, and getting away from the dull routine of rural life.

On his eighteenth birthday (at 8'4" and nearly 500 lbs), he headed for the nearest U.S.M.C. recruiter. Unfortunately the recruiter rejected his application, because of his immense size, on the grounds that he'd have too difficult a time trying to fit into most vehicles used by the Marines. Seeing that Neil was so crest-fallen at not being able to serve the recruiter told him, he'd pass his application along to a group who could better use his unique nature.

Over the past ten years, Neil has made a name for himself as both a member, and later as commander, of a S.H.I.E.L.D. Incident Response Team. The I.R.T.'s are usually used for containment and suppression of Hydra, or A.I.M. ground forces while 'specialists' deal with the nucleus of the incident.

Role in unit: Heavy Fire Support
1.Yeah, I should really read others submited sheets before adding my own to see if I'm using the same idea. (At least I didn't go with my first thought which was a CQC fighter ;))
2. Tweaked the shield, but he's still a cast-iron sonuvabitch to bring dow
3. Tweaked

Name: Dr. Millicent Satine, aka CC

Gender: Female

Age: 39

Powers: Millicent's most useful power is her voice, capable of reaching the highest and lowest ranges known, ranging from the low, bass filled sounds that humans can only feel, to the high, inaudible sound waves used for sonic radar. What makes her more dangerous is that she can also produce sounds loudly, easily reaching 125 dB, the pain threshold of most humans. Her own body is resistant to her voice, so although she may get annoyed herself with the pitches she reaches, she doesn't destroy herself with her noise. So far she hasn't been able to go lower than 10 Hz, the range at which sounds become more lethal. Also, although she can reproduce sounds akin to those used to locate objects, she cannot interpret the results, so she cannot detect things in the dark or use sound to look at a person's internal organs. Her range allows her to mimic some noises, but she cannot throw her voice or copy another person's.

Appearance:

Millicent has long jet black hair with a red streak on the left. She always has her hair in a ponytail to keep her hair out of her face. She has thin glasses that she wears when it isn't a nuisance. When she is at the base, she wears a long lab coat, a black t-shirt and slacks, and a light blue scrubs top. Her skin is pale, and sprinkled with light freckles. She's slim and tall, pushing 6 feet.

Since she isn't exactly front lines, most of her armor is concentrated around her torso. She can raise the front in case she needs to see better, and there's almost nothing on her arms and hands save a minimal skin tight cover. The armor on her legs is made so she can navigate terrain easily, in order to get to the wounded quickly and safely. She has a pack for her medical supplies strapped to her back, keeping it out of the way until she needs it.

Bio: Millicent had traveled the world before she even turned 10. Her father was a pilot, and her mother was a from her computer as a translator. She became fluent in several tongues, including English, French, and Spanish, while picking up snips of several other languages. Where language was her hobby, human anatomy and physiology was her passion, and went into medicine as soon as she graduated high school. She went through the typical path to become a doctor, up until after medical school. Instead of taking an internship at a hospital, Millicent enlisted in the British army.

She served for 6 years as a medic before deciding to move on. Eventually she found herself in Hong Kong, working as a back alley doctor who'd do anything for the right price. It came naturally since she had already trained to do miracles with a pocket knife and some thread. Her "talents" got her noticed, and she had to work out a deal with the government so she wouldn't get thrown in jail for the bullshit charges they had on her. Again she found herself in the army, patching up men and women who had been wounded in guerrilla warfare. To be honest, it was fascinating, and she couldn't care less that she had pretty much zero clearance.

She didn't have any idea how S.H.I.E.L.D found out about her voice, since it was a pretty good secret shared only between her and her parents, but she was glad to get out of there. By this time, she had a pretty good command of her voice, but S.H.I.E.L.D trained her to use it as a weapon. They taught her the key frequencies to memorize in order to incapacitate her targets, and also continued her medic training. 3 years later, she was invited to S.P.E.A.R.

Character attempt number 2, go!

Name: "Red" Abel Redford
Gender: Male
Age: 29

Powers: At the age of seven, Agent Redford was discovered by S.H.I.E.L.D. to be a metahuman, when a unique acid began to excrete from the palms of his hands. This acid was extremely agonizing to the touch, and caused hospitalization for three civilians he made contact with before proper authorities were brought in to detain him.

Observation and experimentation has noted this acid to be of a unique blend, and capable of melting through any objects save vibranium or adamantium with enough time and quantity. It is most effective against soft fabrics and human flesh, where even contact of 2-3 seconds causes intense pain and moderate erosion. Materials like metal and concrete require constant contact of fresh acid for a period ranging from a minute to several to burn through half a foot's worth.

Appearance: Agent Redford's suit is of a light build, allowing his slightly smaller than average body plenty of mobility to make up for lack of strength. The suit is colored metallic green, with black trim. His gloves are the only unique hardware feature. Made of adamantium, they are constructed specifically to prevent his acidic palms from melting through; any other materials have proven ineffective over extended periods of time. They are capable of retraction, allowing Redford's palms to make physical contact with any objects in reach.

Outside of the suit, Redford has a very wiry build. Even at full musculature, his mass does not appear greater than the average man's. He has an extensive tan; more than once he's sat out in the sun, hoping extended heat would evaporate the strange liquid in his hands. His hair is blond, and scraggly, with little attention paid to detailed care, as wearing his gloves at all times leaves little room for finesse. His eyes are steel-blue, and a bit larger than normal. He tends to wear very simple clothes, that can be thrown on in a single motion; this amounts to a t-shirt and sweatpants most of the time he spends out of uniform, with slippers or other shoes he can slip on without tying.

Bio: Since the onset of his abilities, Redford was watched closely by S.H.I.E.L.D., both as a prime candidate for recruitment and as a likely suspect for a violent outburst. The latter was an unnecessary fear, as the early harm he caused to people resulted in Redford becoming extremely fearful of harming others. He retracted from most societal contact, and had few friends outside of his family. They helped him with nearly every aspect of his life, since his hands were too destructive to hold most simple tools.

By the time he reached 18, he had grown sick of his life, as nearly any creative outlet he pursued led him to destroying his own creations with a slip of his hands. He had resorted to painting with his feet by the time S.H.I.E.L.D. approached him and offered him gloves to forever prevent his hands from harming others, in exchange for working for them. He was happy to accept, only to find his new job led him to cause more and more harm for others. S.H.I.E.L.D. even asked him to make use of his powers to hurt their enemies. The pain he forced on others frayed Redford's mind, and over the next decade of service he built up mental barriers in the form of extreme numbness and apathy to counter his disgust with his own work. He felt little in the way of empathy or sympathy, only pursuing his mission in the hopes that the net result would do good.

Name: Gabriel McPhearson
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Powers:
Lumenomancy: Gabriel is capable of hardening light into moderate sized objects, via magic. The energy required takes a physical toll and leaves him sluggish and affects his aim, so Gabriel is pretty most effective when he?s established a combat zone and advances slowly with heavy weapons. He?s at his most effective providing suppressing fire, due to his limitless ammo pool and accuracy problems.

Appearance:
With Armor: With his light based weapons and his tendency to reinforce his own armor with hard light, Gabriel is something like a walking flashlight with a chain gun. He leaves nothing to chance, taking his full armor with him on missions. He uses his HUD to keep track of enemies he?s currently engaged in combat.

Without Armor:
Gabriel is a career military, and is never seen outside of his SHIELD uniform when not on a mission. He keeps his hair close-cropped, his uniform pressed, and his shoes shined. He stands 5? 11?, with a rather thin build. He doesn?t bother dying his hair, which is greying early.

Bio:
McPhearson joined the army at 18, never looking back home. He rose through the ranks quickly, and due to his impressive record, was brought to the attention of SHIELD.
Later in his SHIELD career, he was sent solo on a reconnaissance mission into the jungles near Wakanda. During the mission, an intense rainstorm forced him to find shelter in a cave he stumbled across. Freezing, dying, he found in the cave a massive glowing orb surrounded by corpses. The orb was the only source of warmth, and fearing death by hypothermia, Gabriel slept close to the massive orb and scores of the dead, in hopes of waiting out the storm. When he awoke, the orb was gone, but the cave was still alight with its powerful, eerie glow. Somehow, he had absorbed the power of the orb, while all others who tried had perished.
Tests from SHIELD confirmed this, and in lab tests he was shown capable of not only creating light, but being able to harden the light to the point of tangibility. T he experience has given Gabriel a grand sense of purpose, and he now feels that he has been chosen by God to carry out a divine task, though what task, he does not know. SHIELD has moved him to the experimental SPEAR unit, in order to better make use his powers.

Ok, I'm waiting for someone who showed interest in the tech expert/engineer position to post a sheet, but in fairness to the other, he has until tomorrow night to post (I need a little time to think up the first mission anyway. There isn't going to be much of a gap between the final accepted characters and the first mission). I'm not going to give any feedback after this post, and even this will be limited.

@CJ1145: I like this one a lot better. I'll be honest, whether or not you'll get in will depend on how the post I'm waiting for goes. If I have a good enough tech guy, a demolitions guy might be redundant.

@Mextliloco: I didn't give any feedback to the two medics, so it wouldn't be fair to either of them or the one who I'm waiting to post to give you a chance to edit.

FINAL POST FOR EVERYONE:
THERE WILL BE 8 (possibly 9, but likely 8)* ACCEPTED APPLICATIONS. THERE WILL BE NO MORE FEEDBACK GIVEN. AT 7PM (on the east coast of the US), I'LL POST THE FINAL ACCEPTED SHEETS.

*edited. It probably will likely be 8.

Name: Junfeng "Charlie" Shen aka Firewall
Gender: Male
Age: 27

Powers: Charlie is a wizard with the advances of the technological age. In his mind, there is no system that cannot be hacked through, no weapon that can not be improved, no video game that can not be broken. He has recognized genius levels of intelligence, and puts it to use working on any mechanical system he can get his hands on.

In combat, he has an enhanced version of the standard S.H.I.E.L.D. battle suit that he has been tinkering on continually since acquiring it. He's no Tony Stark, but he's gotten the suit to respectable levels. It can't fly, that was a given, but he can shoot 50 rounds out of each of his hands in a minute. He has attempted to ape Stark's compact missile system, but so far he hasn't been able to keep things controlled enough to allow for multiple missiles to fire at once, so it's a single shot system for now. The suit also contains the ability to fire brief EMP pulses to disable a target long enough for him to do whatever adjustments he wants to it.

Appearance: Charlie is 5'10", with short, spiky black hair that features red tips and deep brown eyes. He bears his Chinese heritage well with tanned skin and a slim stature. He has a large black dragon tattoo on his right arm going from the top of his shoulder down to just below his elbow, a result of a drunken dare while in graduate school. His non combat attire usually consists of knockoff soccer jerseys ranging from Liverpool to his old hometown team to his new hometown team, along with jeans of various blue shades and

Bio: Shen was born in Guangzhou, China to a homemaker and an engineer. His father worked on top secret projects for the Chinese military since graduating at the top of his class from HIT, and did so for ten years before the events in Tianamen Square dampened his enthusiasm for working on such ventures for the government. He did not want to risk dissention and imprisonment so after gathering up his meagre funds, he took his wife and son to the docks in Guangzhou and smuggled his family out along with other families in a tanker bound for America.

The ship docked in San Francisco and Shen's father immediately turned himself in to the U.S. government office. In exchange for the insights he provided into the work he was doing for the military, in particular the Chinese air force, the family was provided with American passports and offered a chance to settle in the country. The elder Shen was offered a job with Boeing's military wing, and the family moved to Everett, Washington shortly after.

After taking his English name from the dog in "All Dogs Go to Heaven", Shen was pushed deep into his lessons by his mother, one of the forerunners of the so-called "tiger moms". The work did however pay off. Shen was consistently at the top of his class for marks, and earned a full ride to Cal Tech in Pasadena. Although his social life opened up now that he was out from under his mother's disapproving stare, he maintained his high standard of work, and graduated with a Masters in Electrical Engineering and a 3.95 GPA. His success in this field attracted the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., who hired him immediately following his graduation.

He was assigned to the R&D sector of S.H.I.E.L.D., and spent the first couple of years working on parts for other agents and designing new weapons for the fight against AIM and other opposing groups. However, shortly after he started working, he started to feel a general sense of malaise with what he was doing. Maybe it was hearing about all the spectacular battles and missions that other agents constantly brought up while in the lab waiting for stuff to be repaired or acquired. After a year and half of fighting these deepening thoughts on his work, Shen approached Director Fury one day, voicing his dissatisfaction with his current job. He wanted to be able to go out and test his works for himself, to experience battles alongside his comrades. Taking his requests into consideration, Fury assigned Shen to a new unit that was being formed.

Sorry I'm late. Ok, I'm waiting for someone else. I saw most of his sheet and liked it, but he isn't posting. I'm not going to wait any longer. If he doesn't post by the time the actual mission starts, he's out.

You eight are in.

I'll be posting the starting post at a little past 9. Until then you all are free to do as you please.

To everyone else, thanks for the applications. there were a couple sheets I liked that i regret couldn't get in. There is always the chance of someone quitting or being booted, so if that happens, I'll post it in the title and feel free to PM me.

Cynia walked into the infirmary in her standard off-duty wear. She would rather be training right now, but she was ordered to get the standard medical check-up required before taking on a mission. There was a small waiting area just inside the room, and she took a seat along the row of chairs lining the wall. If this is what it took for her to go on a mission again, she would put up with the ins and outs required of her. She hoped it wouldn't be too long though before the doctor called her in, or at least somebody else in the same boat as her showed up so she might actually have someone to talk to.

Diana strode into the infirmary waiting area. She wasn't terribly thrilled to be there again, she never seemed to leave without getting poked by a needle, but SHIELD command had given her the order, and she had no choice but to comply. She entered the waiting area and looked around to see if anyone else was there. She spotted Cynia and took a seat next to her.

Dr. Satine. Dr. Millicent Satine. Dr. CC. Dr.Cc? Millicent tried to think of how she would be introducing herself. Maybe just Millicent? Or Satine? Or CC... It was OBVIOUS she was going to be the medic. Why else would she be invited? It was so exciting. She already had her physical done, she had one freqently since she was the one treating people. I'll just say Dr. Satine. It's what everyone around here probably knows me as anyways...

She poked her head out of the door to the office, staring almost disappointedly at the two women sitting there. She slammed the door open with a loud bang. "Est-ce tout le monde?! Just you two? Oh mon dieu, I hope we have more than deux filles to form this team! Right!" Millicent pulled the closest file out of its place, flipping through it. "Ms. Ryman! And Ms. Clock! Ce n'est pas inattendue, but still, a surprise! Especially you, Ms. Clock. What can I do for you ladies? Broken bones? Clogged sinuses? Or maybe you're here for the little frottement de coudes we'll have going on... little private invitation only party?" she smiled, cleaning her glasses.

"Standard mission check-up doctor. I'm sure there will be a time for a proper meet and greet soon. Though I guess we can always have a small one in the waiting room." Cynia said as she stood up from her chair and held out a hand to Millicent.

"Cynia Ryman." She introduced herself.

Diana perked up at the sight of Dr. Satine. "Millicent," she said as she dashed over to the woman and proceeded to give her a hug. "It's good to see you again! Been too long," she remarked as her grip was still tight around the doctor.

"Hay, it's Dr. Satine." Millicent teased, wiggling out of Diana's hug. "Right, well, let me get you two finished up quickly then, plenty of things to do today, you know." She shook Cynia's hand, and then proceeded to take out a syringe and casually inject it into the woman's arm. "Aaaand look at that, part one already finished!" She turned around and took a bit more time to vaccinate Diana as well. "Don't think you can come say hi without getting your vitamins, Ms. Clock~"

She quickly poked Diana in a few places, drawing a bit of blood to send off for screening. "Well, unless you're feeling sick, I need to get to Ms. Ryman. Quickly, quickly, no time to dawdle..." She took her time with Cynia since she hadn't seen her as a patient before, and because of the fact that she had to remember Cynia had super strength.

"So, Ms. Ryman, been overseas lately? Feeling sick? Or any old injuries?"

"Nowhere this thing hasn't been, at least recently. Of course everywhere else I've been and when is in the file. First mission I've had in a while though, as for feeling sick I've been fine lately. Injuries are a given in this line of work, but nothing that would keep me off active duty." Cynia replied as she rubbed her arm with a bit of a smile. She had to like the fact Dr. Satine was efficient and got to business while at the same time being cordial. If this was the person assigned to being their medic, Cynia could see why and wasn't about to complain.

He had the training room to himself, and that made Neil happy. He had the thermostat up to 110 degrees, and some speed metal cranking out of the stereo beside him. Losing himself to the music he began to unleash rapid fire punches, knees, and elbow strikes against the hapless heavy bag, making it lurch and twitch like a fish out of water.

Not for the first time Neil was glad he'd joined SHIELD; not just because he got to serve his nation, but because of the little things. Things like the custom training equipment they'd set up for him in the training room. His size and weight meant he had a tendency to break normal fitness machines, and conventional free weights were very awkward to use.

He was about to launch into another set, when an alarm stopped him. Right, the brass wants the docs to give me a once over... He thought gloomily. His condition meant he'd spent a lot of time with doctors, usually with them poking and prodding him, so he wasn't super excited to get poked and prodded some more.

After a quick shower and a change of clothes, he made his way to Medical. Stopping at the door he groaned, not so much because of his dislike of doctors, but more because it was a normal sized single door...not the easiest to fit through at 9'2" and 800 plus pounds, sighing he opened the door.

Actually entering the room required him to crouch down, turn sideways, and shuffle as best he could through the door frame, not the most dignified way to enter a room. Once inside he sat on the floor, as he was certain that none of the chairs would hold his weight.

Sorry to insert myself into things...but I'm bored :)

Wincing and rubbing her arm from the injection, Diana looked back and saw Neil enter the room. She hadn't seen Neil before, and was taken aback by his sheer size. Not wanting to seem unwelcoming, she approached the man.
"Hey there, big guy," she greeted him rather informally.

Sorry it took so long. got distracted. anyway...

The PA system rang.

"Agents Mayfield, Simms, Ryman, Monaghan, Reetz, Satine, McPhearson, Shen and McLeary. Report to Briefing Room #7. Director Fury is waiting for you."

In the room, Nick Fury was waiting, sitting at the chair right in front of the door. Behind him stood 9 pods of various sizes with each agent's name on it. He held a couple sets of files, and had some more spread over the table.

"Ooooh, it's been awhile since I've been called agent! C'est un sentiment merveilleux!~" Millicent grabbed a black doctor's bag, already packed, and shooed her 3 patients out of the room. "Come now, come now, time to get to the briefing room! Ms. , you're fine, I'll sign off your papers right... now..." She took out a folder and signed her name illegibly on the paper, stuffing it back in her bag. "And of course you, Ms. Clock. You're fine!" Another signature.

Now when it came to Neil, it was hard to not have heard about him. Still, she hadn't seen him in person. Well, she had seen him, he was hard to miss, but she hadn't seen him as a patient. "And hellooo Mr. Reetz... I must admit, the stories don't do you justice." she smiled. "I assume you need a physical too, but! We must talk and walk, hopefully you're not susceptible to the various germs here in the halls..." She looked around before going ahead and stabbing a slightly bigger needle than she had used on the women into his arm.

"I wonder what this is all about. Maybe it has something to do with..." she stopped herself before she said anything about SPEAR. The message Diana received was considered highly classified; and leaking top secret information was generally frowned upon in SHIELD. "a... super villain attack," she added at the last second, as she continued walking with the group.
