So it's finally been confirmed that Agents of Shield will be getting a third season, and Agent Carter a second, while the Mockingbird & Hunter spinoff have been cancelled, and a third network series is in development.

I'm more then happy about the fact that Agents of Shield has been renewed, since I quite enjoy the show, and the fact that Mockingbird and Hunter are staying are all the better. Agent Carter, on the other hand, I could live without it going beyond a single season. I'm not complaining, but I'm not that hyped about it either compared to if it had been something like an 8 episode Runaways series announced.

The Mockingbird and Hunter spinoff being cancelled is neutral in my opinion. I feel they could have managed their own show, and that the void could be filled easily on AoS, but their staying on the cast means the dynamic will be there right from the start in season 3.

As for the third series in development, I'm really hoping the rumours of Secret Warriors is correct, though I'll wait and see since this is Marvel we're talking about, so it could be anything.

What do you all think? Hyped? Not hyped? Generic comment about too much saturation of the market despite countless genre having more market penetration on both the small and big screen?

SHIELD getting renewed is no surprise. There's no possible way they can wrap up the current Inhuman storyline in just one two-hour finale. At least, not wrap it up and be satisfying. There's also the fact that the team is still really fractured, although I'll be honest: If Ward is not in the freaking ground by the end of Season 2, I am going to be beyond pissed.

Agent Carter I'm a bit on the fence about. I loved the mini series. It was amazing. But I'm concerned if they can manage to keep that magic, keep it focused, without treading over the same ground again. If they do, great. But if they don't, it will tarnish perfection.

As for the spin-off being cancelled, I'm fine with it. Bobby and Hunter being the stars just screams "sexual tension" the entire time, which I do not care about at all. I worry that the story would focus too much on them and not on interesting stuff. We don't need another "I like you and you like me but we can't be together but we will anyway" couple on TV again, especially in the Marvel Universe.

No surprise there. Despite being an incredibly mediocre show. Agents of Shield is still popular for some bizarre reason. How that and The Walking Dead have such high ratings is beyond me.
Uh, probably had something to do with the last 8 episodes of season 1 being pretty dame good coupled with season 2 being even better.

Really? I've sorta warmed to Ward as a character, sure he's a psychotic bastard with alot of problems, but at least he's better than Skye "I don't have to listen to orders but I will take the moral high ground and throw a fit if you do the exact same as me" Johnson. But I haven't watched the second part of the second season yet.

But I will mostly agree with you on Carter and the spin-off. Bobby and Hunter are alright, but really aren't all that interesting for more than a few minutes for me. Except I just didn't find Carter all that good myself, decent, but I could've honestly done without it and more of it just...ehhh.

This is Marvel's holding pattern between movies, so no surprises there.
Well, it does seem a good way to both make money and keep interest between Ant Man and Captain America 3, given how the time between their releases is the longest since that between The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

I was actually really damn happy when I saw Agent Carter was renewed. Don't know about everyone else, but I loved that series. I only found it after it already aired though. I wasn't really surprised to see AoS come back, seeing how ABC is confident enough about the show to put it up against NCIS. It's a pretty decent show, sometimes touching outright good, and very watchable, imo. I'd have said it was the best comics related TV Show out there until Daredevil came along.

I'm kind of worried that all these Marvel/DC series are going to hit a saturation point and die out soon though. There's so many now and more in the works.

My money is on him getting his memories wiped. It's already been put on the table by Coulson during their initial negotiations, so I figure that's the way they're likely to go.

Good, good, good.

I am happy that Agents of Shield is getting a third season, because I am really having a lot of fun with it, even though it was a little troubled to begin with, and I loved Agent Carter's first season, so I am hoping that the second season continues on. As for the Bobby and Hunter spin-off being cancelled, im okay with it. I like the characters, and I am sure that the actors could have pulled off starring in show together, but Im not sure if the characters could. As long as Bobby and Hunter stick around in Agents of Shield, I am okay with this.

This was true of season 1, but for season 2 it's been right after NCIS, with that show airing at 8 while AoS airs at 9. Though it works out just fine here in Canada as a result, since the channel which simulcasts Agents of Shield also does The Flash, so Tuesday night we have two comic book series back-to-back.

I'm extremely happy for the pending second season of Agent Carter (especially for that teaser of a finale in the first season), I saw the pending third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D coming a mile away (especially since it's acting like a not-really-an-origin-story prequel to the Inhumans portion of the MCU), and I'm still indifferent to the cancelled spin-off and the pending third series...

Aw man... That's so lucky! I have to quickly switch channels from The Flash to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D all season long... except that one time where both shows ran at the exact same timeslot... *shakes fist at the CW* I'll never forget that shit, CW!

Oh man that sucks, I feel sorry for you, the few moments between the end of Flash and beginning of AoS is when they have the preview for the next episode. Oh well, won't have that problem next week since AoS ends this week and Flash has its season finale next, unless I'm mistaken.

Yep, that's what my DVR keeps telling me... as well as telling me that Arrow's season finale is this week, despite both that show's ads and The Flash's ads state that they both still have two episodes left in their respected seasons... Since I'm too lazy to check the internet to see if that's true or not, I'll just chalk that up to being CW's fault unintentionally...

I'm happy to see AoS come back; it's not fantastic, but pretty solid in terms of something that basically exists to keep interest in Marvel going between movies.

Agent Carter I'm less jazzed about. Maybe I had the wrong expectations going in, but I thought it was going to be a much more pulpy, Doc Savage meets Philip Marlowe sort of show. I hope that it was just a rough first season, and I'll give the second one a shot before writing it off completely.

@Zontar: All hail CTV; even if they did snatch up the Hockey Night in Canada theme, they're not awful.

Indeed, they are in fact not awful. Though then again, so is Global, but no one remembers Global.

Plus they operate Comedy and Space, the two best channels on television. So they got that going for them.

meh.

Shield's alright I guess. Couldn't care less about Carter or spin off. Too much comic book superhero stuff going around at the moment.

I like Hunter and Bobby as characters, but I never really liked them together. I found their bickering a lame distraction from the important shit that was going on. I think Fitzsimmons relationship now is far more interesting
I'm still early in the second season though, so maybe it gets better

I really enjoyed Agent Carter but I'm not entirely sure where it will go now. The first series played the woman in post war era well and the idea of Carter using the "invisibility" of women and assumptions about male superiority from her colleagues as an asset was great. But that won't play in a second series. She already followed the whole arc, being unnoticed, using it to her advantage, then everyone seeing how capable she really was. They can't do it again as her colleagues have already seen what she can do.

There is plenty of material for them to run with, but they will have to change, or at least adapt the overarching narrative substantially.
