The Plesiosaur in the lame movie 'Loch Ness Terror'.

Main hero is going after her because she killed his father, she killed his father because his father tried to steal one of her eggs thus provoking her to defend her territory and children. Main Hero decides best course of action should be to kill her innocent babies who had nothing to do with the death of his father out of a sick personal revenge against an animal. The animal murdering bastard is ruthlessly attacking a mother defending her children on territory that is rightfully hers. She has it especially tough as a single mother because the neglectful father is nowhere to be seen.

Most villains. Their motivations are usually way better worked out than the hero's. The hero tends to be "good" by author's dictate, whereas the villain actually holds some views, usually incompatible with the author's.

I got that kinda thing out of Oblivion. The whole bit with the leader of the Meruse cult (forgot his name...) was pretty convincing when you went through his paradice and he was talking at you through the sky, and i liked the idea that all the races were basicly really weak deadra. and also, i often found myself agreeing with Team Rocket or whatever variation there was in the pokemon games... odd, i know, but every time i got to the nugget bridge i kinda hoped that a little choice screen would pop up and let me tell the guy at the top that "yes, i would like to join team rocket.", because i would have been more useful then those cannon fodder grunts any day, and been made second in command by lunch time.

I agreed with Wesker. I wouldn't mind destroying the entire human race. ^_^

Any villain who could be reasonably expected to shout "I WILL HAVE ORDER!"

I usually tend to agree with any villian who wants to kill humanity to save the earth!

the day the earth stood still re-make would have been awesome is keanu reeves did kill the human race.
ever read a manga called parasyte?

http://www.onemanga.com/Parasyte/

parasytes take over human bodies and start to intergrate themselves in society. even the mayor becomes one.

in one of the twists we find out that the mayor (a pro environmentalist) turns out to be human. he sided with the aliens because he saw them as a way to save the earth from the decadence of man "for our technolgy has surpassed our humanity".

very good read. the main character gets very good characterisation as well as the supporting cast. its also extremely brutal and violent if your into that stuff.

provided some decent backstory is provided, it does happen. not very often in games though, because their backstory is usually pathetic.

"i am taking over/destroying a village/a city/a country/the world/the universe for no good reason other then someone has to do it" is what it usually comes down to.

I actually agreed to a certain extent with the bad guy in CoD4...
The way that we in "the west" have tried to dominate and control the rest of the world and make them do things our way is out of order.

Any crazy scientist from any villain movie. They guy wanted simply pay for his inventions and the goverment wanted them cheaper... Smart people begin to see a problem here. "Maybe if I ruled the world it would be less retarded" Type of thinking.

Starscream from the Transformers cartoons. Almost every episode Megatron comes up with a plan, Starscream would come with a better way of doing it, Megatron insisted on his way and Starscream always would've succeeded. Starscream was freaking cool.

Gordon Gecho from Wall Street. Apart from being a manipulative bastard he really didn't do anything wrong and made a bucketload of cash until the guy he manipulated turned on him. Grr Charlie Sheen.

Teabing (spelling?) from The Da Vinci Code. Trying to find the holy grail and bring down the church which (in the movie) was protrayed as being far more evil than him.

Gekko. And he was trading stocks with insider information, something that's illegal and undermines the gambling basis of the stock market. Not that the current setup of the stock market is necessarily good, or anything.

And, generally, villains do have either good intentions or self-profitting intentions (though sometimes in an emotional rather than material manner.) It consists of either not caring about a portion of the populace or declaring their needs insignificant to the greater good. And if you accept their presumptions as accurate, their conclusions are irrefutable.

It's somewhat interesting that heroes are normally tasked with stopping villains from ruining the world, not actually improving it. Most well-intentioned plans are capable of being viewed as villainy, so maybe all that's necessary to be a villain is to be a hero working for a positive effect in the world.

Good one!

"Yeah, and now you're gonna die wearing that stupid little hat. How does it feel? Aren't you sorry you didn't let me pass through your golf course?"

They should make a game with a character having a similar attitude.

For the first part of the Half-Life 2, I was agreeing with Dr. Breen. Everything he said made sense to me, and he seemed like a very intelligent man that cared about people. His ambition made a lot of sense: to make humanity become more civilized and prosperous.

Of course, in the brilliant writing of the game, they did this intentionally to make you hate the guy even more. First you saw his side of the story, but when you actually see the citizens being oppressed, you realize how corrupt he is. People are being treated like animals, human life is made expendable, and hopes, dreams, and ambitions of people and society are grinded to a hault. And here is this guy, who sits on a high throne unaware of the physical and emotional pain human being is suffering, telling them that it's all "good" for them? It makes you, as a player, say "Wow, what an a-hole."
