No? I enjoyed the game despite the lack of story. I like leveling up and getting better loot...

On a side note, I don't see this ending well...

Thank God I thought I was the only one to think that on both accounts.

Edit: plus I also liked the funny voice recordings from Tannis. I hope the second one adds a bit more of a story but I love the game none the less. Plus I never see Yahtzee's reviews as anything other than entertainment.

I enjoyed it. I won't change my opinion of it just because Yahtzee didn't like it.

Also what he said.

EDIT: Also, your on probation, you probably shouldn't have made this thread...

I thought Borderlands was quite a good game. It took the standard wasteland-based FPS and cranked it up to eleven with amusing characters, a colorful world, and great gameplay.

I can see where Yahtzee is coming from, but I don't agree with his opinion entirely.

I really liked Borderlands, it's not exactly a timely classic but it's a lot of fun. But yes, I can see why Yahtzee wouldn't like it, he seems to be looking for different things in games, and that's fine.

It was a decent game. Once it settled into the Diablo 2 grind, it lost any interest, though.

The mismanaged voicecomm on PC was quite annoying though.

Developer PROTIP: Push to talk keys make players not hate you.

I loved the game personally. It made no excuses for what it is, a silly game about shooting everything with loads of guns.
I like a bit of grind sometimes.
And FPS grind is nice.

And when things get boring there's always Mordercai's sword or Brick's Berserk skill.

Really disliked Borderlands.

And of course, whenever Yathzee agrees with me, it makes that 'review' that much more fun to watch.

But that doesn't make him any less of a nitpicking jerk.

I like it. I find the loot system addictive and the shooting fun. Could have done with a few more friendly characters and some voice acting, but other than that it was fine.

It's basically a single player mmo, personally i find it to be a massive grindfest.
I was never much for fps games so that mechanic alone isn't going to pull me in.

I liked Borderlands, even in single-player. Mainly because i was craving for some real firepower, and that was exactly what i got. Revolvers spitting acid, machine gun with exploding rounds and a magazine of 208 of 'em, and Roland's Metal Storm skill (fire rate increase after killing an enemy) is just plain awesome. Plus, i liked the game's "honesty" about itself, how it does not even pretend to have any kind of plot.

The only thing i didn't like was the ending, because it kinda sucked.

No, I pretty much agree. All the weapons were generic, the trees were next to useless, and it was BEYOND easy at some parts and frustratingly difficult at others. The end boss was a dissapointing mess, and the story was terrible...

And all of this could have been forgiven if Gearbox did one little thing:

GIVE US A DECENT REWARD FOR KILLING THE LAST BOSS.

That was what had excited me the whole game!

A special Eridian Weapon (and others) to be found in the Vault, and all I got was dissapointment and spite.

PS: MONEY IS NOT A GOOD REWARD FOR KILLING A LAST BOSS!

Yahtzee is often wrong about games, so it is unsurprising he was wrong about Borderlands. Honestly, him being wrong about things is such a regular occurrence I hardly felt it necessary to point out that he completely missed the point of the game.

It was what it was advertised to be, Diablo with guns. I particularly liked the artistic style, but the game was definitely not paced well. I was waiting with breathless anticipation for it and barely maintained interest long enough to finish my initial playthrough.

Honestly, Borderland isn't that bad.

It has a loot system about as good as Diablo (and that's no mean feat) and pairs it with a FPS mechanic that actually is reasonably thought provoking with a good utilization of cone of fire and reload mechanic. The world itself is decent enough to explore as well.

The main thing Borderlands does wrong is force the players to grind quests like an MMORPG. MMORPGs can get away with that because they're massively multiplayer and the virtual world makes that seem worthwhile.

Borderlands can't do that, consequently it can get quite monotonous because, even though the core game mechanic is good, it's badly overextended with terrible pacing. You can sort of make up for in multiplayer because other players generate a certain level of entertainment... but only so much.

Taken in small portions one can probably endure it, but to be asked to sit down and review the SOB (complete with lousy ending) is bound to jade anyone against it.

I would have to say that Borderlands did have it moments but i found it a lil to easy, but really i would agree with Yahtzee and the fact that it has so many guns actually makes it boring to me sure i like variety but to much variety can be a bad thing and yes borderlands plays to much like a mmo for my tastes. But people remember that he is a critic he says his own opinion not what a bunch of people want to hear. If he did that then no one would watch his videos, so stop your hating :\
