There's probably some entertainment value in the internet's addiction to strawmen - though I'd hazard it's more a hand-in-hand thing. Victory is always something you can rally around and tell stories about, and a story where you end with 'And they got totally rekt by my flawless logic, top kek' is gonna be more entertaining for your allies than one with 'And then they told me I was being obtuse and I actually listened to them instead of loling. Turns out I'm kinda an asshole.'
The most fitting quote that comes to mind is :"Ah ha! I'm bleeding! That makes me the victor!"
It might not be the best logic, but dammit in my mind I won, and that's fucking awesome.
