Anything you specifically want out of either the games?

Radeonx said:
Get neither and wait for The Old Republic. That's just my opinion, though.
You do realize as hyped as it is, they aren't going to have anything different then any other game except OMG JEDIS! It's not like they found the secret holy grail of taking out constant grinding.
And another person completely ignores the story element. Do some research. It is different.

EDIT: And for the record, I agree with Radeonx.
OH GOODY! I'll be killing 1000 sewer rats, but at least I'll have proper motivation?
Have you even watched the gameplay video they released? Every single class has their own personal Knights of the Old Republic length storyline. That means the game will be like that. Did you enjoy that game? Then you'll most likely enjoy TOR, because it'll be that where some people can cross over into another person's story.

I highly suggest you watch the video before you start bashing the game. You're only making yourself sound like a sarcastic prick that doesn't know what he's talking about.
OH Goody, my little question has now turned into a fucking fanboy Star Wars rant, how about you actually give me an answer on your opinion of the 2 games I'm choosing from, instead of instigating a flame war, eh?!
In case you didn't notice, I gave you my opinion. Wait for The Old Republic. If you want another, I'd say play WoW. Those other games may be good, but WoW is the best out there right now.

So please, don't be a dick about things, eh?
Your personal insults reflect badly upon you, and the rules. Also, i do not WANT The Old Republic, because i hate Star Wars and anything Star Wars related, i know it's hard to fathom with a fanboy like you, but i want either Aion or Fallen Earth, i've played WoW for years and quit, so how about YOU stop acting like some high and mighty god!
I'm NOT acting like some high and mighty god, you apparently just felt like putting me on that pedestal! I didn't know you hated Star Wars (and by the way, I don't care if people don't like Star Wars, I'm not some idiotic fanboy, I realize people like different things) and I didn't know you had already played WoW. It's not my fault you assumed I'm psychic.
It's not about you being psychic, it's about me giving you two options ,and starting a flame-war with pantsoffdanceoff, and you say you understand that people like different things? well then, please explain why you started arguing frivolously with PantsOff because he said he didn't like TOR or thought it was going to be overhyped, hmm?
Maybe becuase pantsoff was stating false facts about the game, and I decided to make sure he realized that he was wrong? I don't care if he doesn't like it, it's the fact that he was saying things about the game that weren't true, possibly making it so you wouldn't want the game (if you were considering getting in the first place). It's not about getting someone to like it. I just hate it when I see people bullshitting things.

And you know what? Have you ever seen a thread on this forum (or in fact, any other) where someone gives two options and no one says "try this instead"? NO. It happens. Get over it. And instead of being an ass about things, you could have just said "guys, please stop, I'm not a Star Wars fan, so it doesn't matter". Instead, you decided to be a jerk about things, and guess what? You derailed this thread more than PantsOff and I did by doing so.

So seriously, great job. I applaud you for your ways and thank you. I haven't had a good laugh about someone making things worse for themselves in a long time.

wow look at you silly kids, just drop it :). i say Fallen Earth, sure... it doesnt look like the cleanest game out there (Graphics or UI) but i played this year at PAX and it was... wait for it!!!! Fun. alot of fun, sure its a bit buggy (Like all MMO's at first) and to be honest it feels like i have played Aion before... so again i post my vote for fallen earth. Hope that helps.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Id go with aion, its been out for awhile so compaired to other mmos it should have a much smoother launch then most and alot of the real bugs have already been killed, not to mention its got fun gameplay and while fallen earth looks interesting I dont know much about how it plays

Fallen earth. Don't believe me? I tested it (hope the NDA is up or else im screwed). If this si the only time i'l ever be believed on this forum, it's worth it. The overall experience in fallen earth is fantastic, especially if you can hop in with a friend. The world is just humongous, with some huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge wilderness plains, where you can go nuts. The questsistem is usual for MO's, but then again that doesan't mean it's bad.As for combat, real time ranged and mele combat... what do you want more. Also, in the early stages of this game the true value of a real handgun will be discovered the hard way: for the first 8-10 levels you'l be mainly using zip guns( air-soft guns) and a crosbow for a rifle. Also, you won't be able to just "buy" a handgun, the first i got was from a mission and the rest are made from crafting.Crafting: interesting albeit it can be annoying because making an object usualy takes up to 10 mins, a reason why most crafting is done offline( did i mention that? :p). A quick way to make money i discovered was buying from a craft vendor some 4 copper ore and making a lot of zip-gun ammo, with a profit of about 12 chips ( in game currency) per craft.

The gear a player may obtain is... wel thaere are a lot of frikkin equipment slots, and when you quip shoulderpads you can decide which soulder, if only on one shoulder etc....

Character development from a skill-point point of vue is too complex to write here, let's just say you'l never be a super-human commander with good crafting skills... thou must choose.

And a great and hailed aspect: vehicles. The first vehicle, the ATV is obtained after a series of quests( not to hard mkind you just long ones). The quest actually requires you to gather the vehicle parts and the learn to do it, go to a town with facilityes and voila, ye got an ATV. But do not despair, for transportation before the atv u can buy a horse... which is VERY cheap. An interesting part with vehicles is that when you use the item and it spawns, it doesant despawn, you have to take it to a garage/stable( theyre in the same building always) and leave it there. Also horses need food and vehicles require gas and maintanence from time to time. Also you can shoot from horse-back and from vehicles, and in vehicles others player can hop in.

this would be about it.... i say fallen earth.... and a quick question, was this my first review?

I would say Fallen Earth, but I would honestly wait for the reviews of it. It looks killer but so many things could go wrong with it.

Have fun with Aion. Because both are going to fail.

And no. No one will ever convince me other wise. "Oh but it has 100,000 people!"

I was beta testing fallen earth and it's a piece of shit. Dope up your pc's boys cuz this lil' baby will leech your resources like a baby's first time in a candy store. Most of the exterior is bland and empty, it is overflowing with bugs and glitches. My bet is on AION on this one. Don't go near FE it's just a waste of time and money.

It depends on your PC. High end specs? Go Aion. Otherwise get FE. The firt is based on the cryengine which is a notorious system hog.

Personally I'd go with Aion. I tried Fallen Earth, if anything kills it it's the graphics engine. Unless they fixed it since the last time I was in the beta (...a month ago I think?), you walk anywhere that has a sight range of more than 20 feet (IE, anywhere outside) and the thing starts coughing. I mean, my system isn't exactly a powerhouse but it isn't half-bad either. I went from most graphic settings maxed out to everything dropped to the minimum, and it still choked when I was outside.

I'm a fan of FPS games in general, I'm one of the people who had very high hopes for Hellgate: London. Hell I still play it. I think that has something to do with the fact that I paid for a lifetime sub for it, and we know how well that turned out. Regardless, Fallen Earth seems to be following a similar path as HGL and Tabula Rasa, and for that matter Huxley. It'll fade into the background and most likely eventually crawl under a rock somewhere.

I also tend to have high hopes for Aion because NCSoft is in the mix. Yeah they've had a few duds here and there, but considering Aion is the spiritual sequel to the Lineage series, I doubt it's going to go under. Besides, you're basically getting a free expansion!

For you people who are up in arms about how awesome WoW is, why not simmer down and post something constructive? The OP didn't ask about WoW after all. Yes, it has a lot of subscribers. People may argue against it, but with that many people playing it can't possibly be a bad game. I've subbed off and on just like many other people.

OP, what I can tell you is this. Aion feels immersive. Unlike most MMOs where you just feel like a mercenary running around being paid to help people, something about Aion tends to make you feel like you're part of the community. You aren't just killing boars for that bag of gold the guy has waiting for you, you're killing them because they're destroying the crops and, if you don't the village will starve. People will often ask for help not for themselves, but for someone else nearby. "Yeah, Joe over there needs a new rake, but he can't afford one. He's been really frustrated without it, can you go get one for him?"

If you'd rather wait to see if Aion will keep its head above water, you could try Lord of the Rings Online. Similar quest style, generally a very friendly community, and interesting PvP. Plus, the epic level items level along beside you :p

Well, I went with Aion, after a long debate with myself.
I thought that Fallen Earth was great and all, with possibly some of the best concepts and ideas I'd ever seen in any other game, but it was unpolished, buggy and kinda ugly. So yeah, I went with Aion.

Now, a month later, I kinda hope I had gone with FE instead. I mean I haven't really even played Aion, it's just too simple for me, the different aspects of it just got really boring really quick. Maybe I'm being too quick to judge, I've been busy and haven't really given it much of a chance, but I gotta say, Fallen Earth has a lot more depth, and a devoted (and I mean REALLY devoted) indy developer team who work their asses off each day trying to better the game.

Sure, the graphics may not be the best possible, but it's really the atmosphere of the game that I miss the most. I alphatested FE since like September 2008 or something, and I have to admit that I was kind of put off by the confusing complexity of it and also the below average graphics, but in the end, Fallen Earth is the game I really keep returning to, thinking what great potential it has. It did get kind of exhausting, and the fact that the world it's set in is a monotonous desert with far less variety than the environments in, for instance, Aion kind of saddens me. But at least the game doesn't look like it's made for kids! And in Aion, though the graphics seem great and they technically are better, the realism is far lesser than in Fallen Earth, and the way they've done textures to save resources just makes the end result look sloppy. I don't know why, but I just can't seem to be able to get over that fact.

So basically if you want a mature, complex and confusing, but in the end rewarding game with a lot of depth, Fallen Earth is worth a try, I think. You can always just give up and take up Aion or WoW or some other instead, if you wish. =P
