Call it what you want, but Muse are a great band, and this is no "Origin Of Symmetry", but I have to admit it, this is a brilliant album. Despite all my negativity, i do like this album. It's trying to show that as a 3 piece band.
It may be a rehash of previous/other bands songs but I did like it. Which is the key to this review.

I loved Eurasia, dosen't sound a thing like Rhapsody.

Good review, mate, very informative to those who haven't brought it yet.

Going to see 'em in Birmingham!!
If you listen to eurasia and then queen and don't hear the similarities then I don't know how to convince you (they have more songs than bohemian rhapsody). Also, lucky lucky lucky you.

Also, as a huge muse fan I WANTED the resistance to be awesome, I thought it would be because it was so hyped, and because it's a muse album. Then I was disappointed with it, now I like it. It'll never come close to their others though, it's just too... I dunno, user friendly for me, if that makes sense. It's also a departure from their masterpieces. Seeing you say undisclosed desires was your favourite song on the album made me cry man tears (in my mind). It isn't muse to me AT ALL... It sounds like something they could put on "so you think you can dance" and get away with it. Also, guiding light doesn't sound very much like thoughts of a dying atheist at all... The progression is similar, but other than that, it's a completely different song. This is all IMO

I really like the album. It kinda harkens back to the late-70's/early 80's when you had concept albums that tried to tell a story.

On first listen i was kinda iffy on how MUCH i liked the album (Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations are better, i think), but the more i listen to it, the more i find i dig the experimentation they did here..

I like a bold band who is not afraid to try something different.

I find i enjoy the first 3 tracks the best, and then the entirety of Exogenesis.

In regards the the Album in question;
Muse stopped being great after Absolution. That was their peak.
Couldn't agree with you more. I love that album, better than Black Holes and Revelations anyway. I might pick up this new album though, just out of curiousity.

Absolution was the perfect balance between grandiose, beauty and grunge. Not many albums even attempt to achieve such a balance.
Everything upto and including Absolution was so new and intensely talented but at the same time, so accessible and effortless.
Now I feel they're just focusing on the accessibility and familiarity of what they've achieved, that's how stagnation begins.

Nice job there, not the best Muse album, not even close.

I actually kinda dislike some of the songs on the album.

And this comes from someone who has everything Muse has ever made including live albums (I'm a huge fan). So it was a real strain for me to actually say I disliked some songs, but whatever every band is bound to have a bad album.
