i look at it as a kind of self prescribed medication. i drink a reasonable amount once a week so i have a few hours to feel emotions and appreciate secular offerings.

I got drunk once to see what it was like when I was legal, and I didn't like it.

I drink after work to unwind and while I play games, but that's about it. I'm not really a social drinker and if I'm with friends and they aren't drinking then I won't. I tend to drink alone and in the dark because I like the dark and having a drink then is soothing to me, so I don't get that perception really.

I'm a bit paranoid about drinking too much since I have uncles and one aunt that became alcoholics, so I will every so often not touch anything for a good while.

Tried it a few times, didn't like it. I'm straight-edge now, so I guess that's the end of that. I don't mind when other people do it, just so long as they don't try to get me to start drinking.

I don't mind having a drink every now and then to grease my social wheels but I certainly don't make a habit of it and I never overdo it.[footnote]Except for that one time... but lesson learned.[/footnote] This year I've drank alcohol on maybe 10 different occasions, each time being only a couple of drinks if that paints a good picture for you of how rare it is for me. Sometimes alcohol can give me a really furious, fiery headache even after just one beer or a single glass of wine which is quite a turnoff.

Out of curiousity, why? Can you explain it or is it just something you're afraid of and don't really know why?

I used to drink a lot...A LOT..in college. It lead to some....pretty strange mornings the next day lets put it that way. Now I dont drink as much anymore. I still enjoy the occasional buzz in a highly controlled environment where my potential for disaster is minimal.

I dont like to drink alone (besides the occasional beer or wine with dinner) because it is despressing to me. Also I dont touch tequila anymore....bad...BAD memories. Mostly a rum fan (used to be a big whiskey drinker, but not anymore. It is too hard on my body now).

I do love drinking at parties because when im drunk i really cut loose and befriend random drunk people that i dont know. Sadly im at the age where parties very rarely happen due to all of my friends getting married and having their first kid.

Funny enough, I only get drunk maybe twice a year now, but my resistence to alcohol is so low that I can get a good buzz off of one stiff drink.

I was anti-alcohol for a few years when I was once accused to rape by an ex-girlfriend, despite hearing from many people at said party that she was topping up my drinks when I wasn't looking and, when I was ridiculously drunk, lead me upstairs.

Since I got over my paranoia, though, I enjoy drinking with friends. I don't get as off-my-face as I used to, but I do occasionally like to drink a little bit more than I should just so I do the stupid things that make a night-out worth remembering, but still remember them the next day.

Hell, I'm young. I might as well make those mistakes when it's still classed as 'funny' and not 'a disgrace'.

I drink when I go out with friends and feel like it. I can drink half a liter of hard liquor without even a hangover, but I rarely do (once in half a year or less).

I drink alone, with others... hell, I'll have a little drink in the morning if I can get away with it. Casual drinking and I go way back.

People can be pretty judgmental about that sort of thing even in the most liberal of settings. I made a joke about always running out of beer (Why is the rum always gone?) on facebook a while ago and a few high school acquaintances took this as a sign to send me "You might be an alcoholic" links and other bits of admonishment.

On the other hand, more than a few of my college friends have swapped stories with me about the infamous "weekend-long buzz," which is pretty rough but funny in retrospect.

Anyway, my philosophy is drink what you want, when you want just as long as you're not hurting anybody in the process.

I treat it very carefully. I was a good boy and waited until I turned 19 before sipping down my first real drink while attending university. I then proceeded to drink quite a bit for a period until I had a massive hangover in April of 2011. I took a month off of partying and since then haven't indulged nearly as much as those first few months.

My attitude is that if you are comfortable drinking with the people you'll be around, have a safe way home (or alternatively a place you can sleep it off available), don't have any important engagements on the following day; you should be allowed to drink if you want to. I like drinking and the feeling it gives me but I don't drink without informing those who love me and worry about me. I never want my activities to hurt another person in my life. I constantly question myself on why I'm drinking. The day I'm drinking to try and deal with stress or pain in my life is the day I drop the bottle for good.

So yes. I like to drink but I'm a very calculated kind of drinker. I don't drink very much at all anymore. I just don't pursue the opportunities for it because my money is needed elsewhere.

[sub][sub][sub]One person's opinion of me and my habits is more valuable to me than all the awesome parties in the world could be.[/sub][/sub][/sub]

I love beer and wine. I also really enjoy a fine bottle of cognac every now and then. However I have quit drinking because I am watching my weight. I'm not overweight or anything, but I don't want to become overweight either.

I don't really like drinking at social occasions. Maybe a beer or two to lighten up the mood, but I hate getting hammered. I just act like an obnoxious idiot for a while, then throw up, pass out and wake up with a vague memory gap (or at least I wish I had one).

I prefer to settle down with a nice beer or a bottle of wine/piss-cheap port, eat some fancy cheese or crisps; just some kind of snacks.

Alone. Absolutely, blessedly alone.

Listening to music (singing, merrily, since I'm alone and thusly won't torment anyone), watching a movie, playing a game... It's nice.

Not wiiiild aaaand craaazy times. Just nice.

I like to drink alcohol once in a while with friends after work/with family on holidays, have a glass of wine in the evenings, a margarita at a restaurant, etc. I'll even drink a little scotch if it's a special occasion.

My biggest problem with alcohol is that most of the time (but not always) it causes me to break out in some kind of weird non-bumpy, non-itchy hives that look like red splotches all over my face and upper body. D: I've only ever seen it happen to me and my mom, my doctor doesn't really know what causes it, and it's super annoying to have to try and explain to people when they notice and think I'm suddenly going to die.

I don't like beer and don't drink alcohol in general. Hard lemonade is what I drink at most.

I was at my grand aunt's for thanksgiving and she gave me some wine. and I have to say, its the best wine I've ever tasted.

Now I'm considering making wines for hobby.

I don't like the taste of alcohol. Thus I don't drink it. Which is a bit sad, 'cause there are so many alcoholic drinks that taste awesome (except the taste of alcohol, which ruins it for me). Also, I don't like stuff that tampers with how my brain functions. I'm already of questionable mental health, adding influencing substances to the mix could end up being highly volatile. (yes, my head would positively explode! ^_^)

I don't drink. I never really had the desire to. I remember when I was younger my parents would do the 'Want a sip?' Never liked the taste of alcohol.

Plus, I've seen too many friends go down that road of just getting shit faced, not remembering what they did the previous not and then proceed to tell me that it was the best night ever.

Don't get me wrong. I've got no problem with people who like drinking. That's perfectly cool. I just don't do it.
