Because 2020 has a few more weeks left.

Trebek hosted the iconic US game show for 37 seasons. His last taped episode was filmed on October 29.

Last year, Trebek revealed his now-fatal pancreatic cancer diagnosis to the world with a heartfelt, and tongue-in-cheek, video announcement:

He is survived by his son Matthew, age 29, and his daughter Emily, age 27.

I may have gotten tired of Jeopardy, but I never got tired of you. I do miss your voice.

Unfortunate but not unexpected.

We've known about his pancreatic cancer for a while now, and 80 isn't exactly a young age.

Honestly, amazing that he continued working pretty much until the end. Had I been in his shoes I would have retired the moment I knew my diagnosis.

This, along with something like colon cancer make me hope that Euthanasia become more... I don’t want to say popular? Acceptable? It’s literally a shit way to die

One one side, Trebek's permanent fixture position has been longer then I've been alive, and there's a certain sense of pemanence that went with him when he stepped down last year. And the worst thing that I've could say about him was that some of the charities he got involved with were maybe a little dubious (He was a big spokesman for the "adopt an african child for 1 dollar a month" one, at least up here)

The flipside being, he's an eighty year old man, who was struggling with a terminal illness. And passed away peacefully in his home with friends and family. He took his year, and probably had enough wherwithal to handle anything he felt he needed to handle during that time. Its hard to attach to this as a tragedy.
