I felt it was okay. Its definitely not Sleepy Hollow (Burton's Best), but it was passable.
That being said, the breakdancing at the end was garbage.

The film didn't have a clear direction to go in. One minute, it was emulating a quest story that has been done to death, the next minute, the hatter is flirting with the red queen.

Oh god, yes. I hate this kind of Burton zealots, they can't even take critics. It's like Burtonology.

Personally I won't watch the film if I have to pay for it. Like Roland Emmerich's 2012 before Tim Burton won't get a dime from me until he makes an actually good film again and stops raping my childhood.

So... Alice falls through a disguised portal into a weird world full of weird creatures that are suppressed by a merciless queen, so she has to lead an army against her troops to free the place?
Does it sound familiar to you? Yeah, that was the plot from Narnia... I just crossed out the kids' names and put "Alice" instead.

I agree that the hatter's dance at the end is completely pointless/waste of space. The music is so out of context with the rest of the scene it made me sit up and come out of my boredom induced stupor
