maybe it just isnt very good, maybe it sucks. if is rubbish that doesn't mean you cant like it, there seems to be this big thing on this site were people cant separate what they think to want the game actually is. you can like sub-par games, that's not a crime and just because you like it that doesn't mean it good, the door swings both ways. many reviewers and critics have stated why its a bad game and seeing as its there job they should know what makes a bad game. i haven't played the game because im no spending £30 or so to buy a game which has received nothing but bad reviews. but you can still enjoy it, you don't, have go around demanding answers as to why a game you like get bed reviews, be grown up enough to relies a products problems and have solace in the fact you enjoy despite the issues.

As an Aliens fan you will have just as much fun as chewing glass. Also a bit cheaper. Bringing The characters back from the movies was just un-nessisary, and a huge cop-out. I think the note it ended on was cheap as hell. Nothing is really resolved. The campaign just feels like an added on Expansion, Its obvious what parts where worked on from a guy writing a true aliens game and the parts where they realised they needed to ship this ASAP so they filled rooms with guys holding guns you have to run and shot-gun cap everyone in the room

It has a few levels where it Freaking NAILS it. You have some parts where you lose some weapons being hunted around which has some brilliant atmosphere, I forgot how shitty it looked like once running for your life against things which took a pulse rifle grenade to the head like a light breeze. Your sitting going "yeah this thing is a freaking bad-ass" however lasts for all of 10 minutes and your back to the boring old "shoot the Weyland Mercs"

Also the boss battle is the Easiest thing i;ve ever had, i had a post earlier about the AI bugging out and being flanked by a guy with a rocket launcher pinning me down while people lob grenades, a flamethrower approaches and a small army lining me up, i think i died 6 times, While the Boss battle i didnt get hit once, And realised there was cover for you to "Hide" in and evade, and this is on hard mode

On Ultimate Bad-ass difficulty i finished 2 levels without firing a shot. I ran past casually in a few levels

I am a large Aliens fan and I liked one thing about the game, and that was the attentin to detail. things like the sound the guns make, the areas that you see in game that are film settings and such, everything is pretty much how it is supposed be, but the game itself was bad in almost every way. Crap AI, not0great graphics, the character skins didn't really look ery good and I just didn't like it. Also, it's supposedly official Aliens canon, but the story sort of wipes it's arse with Aliens canon after it just ate a particularly spicy curry from a place with low hygiene standards.

I think the problem is that in my eyes at least, Aliens (film) wasn't about shooting Aliens. It was a film about the way that the marines, who started so cocky and bold, were taken down a notch by the aliens and we as an audience got to watch how they reacted. If the same happened in this game it would have been cool.
I imagined a first level which was all out cocky shooting shit with loads of guns, and by the second level you'd lost all your guns and it was more of a survival horror game.

I think the worst problem with A:CM is that it simply wasn't an Alien game. It's actually not a bad shooter, if a bit buggy and uninteresting. But the Alien movie franchise, in my opinion, was far more about the horror of isolation, the panic with being trapped in close proximity to the deadliest hunter known to man. And A:CM was a swing and a miss in that respect, with moronic AI and no real sense of a threat.

Weell...
1. The aliens aren't supposed to pop in and charge you down. They're supposed to stalk you and jump on you when you aren't looking.
2. Not being challenged on any but the hardest difficulty is a bad thing. It means that the game was too easy.
3. Aliens often glitch into walls, run in circles, or downright ignore the player.
4. Teammates will randomly forget combat is taking place and just stand there in the middle of battle.

I wanted to love this game, but now I'll have to wait until they either put out an online patch or someone makes one for Steam.

I believe the biggest complaint from reviewers was that it was just plain boring. Run down corridor, shoot xenomorphs, repeat a few times and then fight mercs. The xenomorphs don't surprise you, they aren't very dangerous, they just jump out in front of you and get shot. They lack the fundamental properties that are supposed to make them scary.

Also, the demo footage was a complete lie. The real game does not look even remotely that good on any platform. It's a clearly a render.

I haven't played the game myself, though I have watched a Let's Play of it. For what it's worth, to me it doesn't look like Colonial Marines was judged unfairly, but rather, the critical response to the game was greatly amplified by the fact that everyone had unrealistically high expectations of it. I distinctly remember watching the "Multiplayer" trailer [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbF4xozplqg] and thinking "this looks worse than the AVP games in every single way." As a fan of the Alien franchise, I have to say that I have no idea why so many people got as hyped as they did for what looked like a completely average game set in the Aliens universe.

I think all the hate is directed at the game because the demo experience was so drastically different from the actual product. As for the actual game, I thought it looked okay enough at a glance. I think that, had the company been a bit more honest about the finished product the game would have done okay.
