I'd agree. As would almost anyone. Bioshock 2 was a cash in. Bioshock was great, and far better left alone. I beat 2 then pretended it never existed.

Yours truly, The Pinray (because my username totally isn't right next to my post)

Wow, it really does make you feel important! :D

I still haven't completed the second Bioshock, and I've completed the first three or more times, going out of my way the first time to get 100%; something I rarely do, but I was genuinely interested in the audio logs. I'm not sure if it was over-familiarity or just a bad game, but Bioshock 2 failed to interest me. I'd assume the latter because just looking up at the Bioshock canvas on my wall makes me want to play it again. They should've never made a second, or not centred it around a big daddy at least. Bioshock felt creepy because you were pretty much a splicer that wasn't insane, Bioshock 2 lost any chance at being scary when they decided to make you a fucking tank.

And both BioShock and BioShock2 are inferior to System Shock 1 and 2. While we're stating facts, I figured I'd contribute. You damn kids get off my lawn, and Irrational, you should be making SS3 instead of Infinite. Dang it all. *waves cane*

Edit: Darn, Resonance got to it before me. ;) Remember what Yahtzee said: "It's not LIKE System Shock 2, it IS System Shock 2"... only with a lamer villain and a less enthralling environment that isn't really scary at all.

personally I dont think Biochock 2 was as bad as everyone is making it out ot be...I went in knowing that it wasnt going to have the same "OMG WOW!" factor as the original Bioshock, but I got exactally what I wanted,

more Bioshock
this. I like how people fail to mention bioshock 2's online. It wasn't groundbreaking but it's better than most fps online multiplayers. There's also the fact that the they got rid of the lame hacking minigame in the first and made a better one for the second game (that was one of the few things I didn't like about the first game)

Wow, that sounds a lot better than the 1st game, which threw all these Objectivism references and totally didn't talk about the philosophy at all. You just kind of got the sense that Objectivism is bad because Rapture failed and that's pretty much it.
Eh?

The game went to fairly great lengths to show how Fontaine exploited Ryan's philosophy and slowly forced him to abandon it. Ryan's Objectivist aspirations and his failure to make it sustainable are pretty much his entire character arc.

It wasn't a point-by-point explanation (or refutation) of Randian philosophy, but how could it be? That would be awful and heavy-handed. It was still a major theme, and it wasn't handled so much as "here's why objectivism fails" as it was "here's why human beings fail.
It took me 3 years to get through the game because of the boring middle sections. I really only remember the main plot points. I only things I remember getting about Objectivism is that it would fail and that it's a system where the government is totally hands off.
