I was made for this thread (see username)Blunderboy said:![]()
Well I've recently converted from Lager to 'proper' beer, and I was looking for some recommendations.
I've tried 'Doom Bar' and it was tasty.
I don't care if it makes me an old man (I've already got a flat cap so sod it).
EDIT - Just to clarify, I'm British so local ales would be better.
Also, general booze discussion.
That brimstone one you guys have is pretty nice too, it's a shame USA gets a bad rap for its beer because it's actually not true!!Vandenberg1 said:Dark Lager Heinikin is amazing... Like Arrogant BASTARD HERE IN CALIFORNIA..Dark, dark beer, but sweeter![]()

But I've been to England a couple of times and the one I actually enjoy drinking is IPA (Indian Pale Ale)
YAY! Glad somebody posted some Alestorm! Have some more:piinyouri said:Thought this might have been an Alestorm thread. : c
I only drink very occasionally so I probably don't have many good suggestions. (I'm buzzed and giggling after roughly three wine coolers, so yeah >.>)
Have some Alestorm anyway. : D

Indian pale ale is, I think, just a name of a certain brand of ales/beers.Guffe said:There are several??carlsberg export said:Which ipa guffe?Guffe said:Well I don't drink beer, I do other alcoholic drinks instead.

I always asked if they have IPA after I drank it, no one has ever asked me about a certain kind...
No idea about that brand thingy.carlsberg export said:Indian pale ale is, I think, just a name of a certain brand of ales/beers.Guffe said:There are several??carlsberg export said:Which ipa guffe?Guffe said:Well I don't drink beer, I do other alcoholic drinks instead.

although named Indian pale ale it was first brewed in England in the 19th century.
yeah basically.according to wikipedo ( yeah that's right wiki pedo!) it was exported via the east India company.Guffe said:No idea about that brand thingy.carlsberg export said:Indian pale ale is, I think, just a name of a certain brand of ales/beers.Guffe said:There are several??carlsberg export said:Which ipa guffe?Guffe said:Well I don't drink beer, I do other alcoholic drinks instead.

I heard from the person who introduced me to IPA that they tested it in a few pubs back in England, it was meant to be sent to India (hence the name) to the troops in war there. They needed to have a beer that would last the trip but they couldn't just send some shit so they needed to try it.
Well in the end the English liked it so much that they never sent it but just made more to sell in the pubs. I don't know if this is true but entertaining story to say the least![]()
I wish that there was a bigger Craft Beer scene like America in other countries.MammothBlade said:FTFYshootthebandit said:Newcastle brown ale. It tastes like charcoal and piss
j/k
I prefer a good American lager/craft beer *heresy* but Black Sheep Ale is pretty damn good.
Well the thing is... we have maybe 3 different kinds and the rest is importedcarlsberg export said:yeah basically.according to wikipedo ( yeah that's right wiki pedo!) it was exported via the east India company.Guffe said:No idea about that brand thingy.carlsberg export said:Indian pale ale is, I think, just a name of a certain brand of ales/beers.Guffe said:There are several??carlsberg export said:Which ipa guffe?Guffe said:Well I don't drink beer, I do other alcoholic drinks instead.
