I have come across many people in the escapist forums claiming that
"All Jrpgs look the same to me"

I have become weary of defending my point and find it baffling that some can say that this:

,looks like this:

Or this:

So tell me, if you think these games look the same, how bad are your cataracts?

Very productive indeed.

But seriously, as much of a shitstorm as this will be very, very soon, I'm grateful to the OP for being brave and taking a stand against the "lol JRPG's suck" crowd, as foolish as said bravery may be.

I don't think that they mean that all jRPGs literally look exactly the same, but rather that they all have enough similar characteristics to justify being called exactly the same. For example, all three pictures have distinctly androgynous main characters. (Well, Adell is kind of borderline. But the guy from ToV...Pretty girly.)

Wow, this thread was over before it even began.

Of course all JRPGs don't look the same, and people who say they do are either blind or stupid. Did you really have to make a thread in order to respond to them? Newsflash:

1. BLIND people won't be able to read it.
2. STUPID people will simply remain stupid.

Fourthed.

I'm not gonna get into it any further, JRPG's aren't my gaming forte, all I know is that I dislike them. Excluding Final Fantasy, I kind like those.

Two problems with that OP.

1. For people who will listen, you're preaching to the choir.
2. For people who don't listen, they won't care.

I'd argue Disaea is a TBS rather than a JRPG but that's just me.

Dunno what the first is, but lack of an English screencap leads me to believe it's import only. A hurr hurr hurr.

Sadly, these two people are dead-on, and my admiration of the OP's bravery is on an "at least you tried" basis.

Some say I'm a fool,
Others say I'm brave,
All I know is that I'm damn good at physics... don't ask

By the same most people mean they are ALWAYS cookie cut from FF which cookie cuts it' self...13 times to be exact. They cambat is always turn based, most of the time they are cartoonish with spikey haired characters, there are almost always random annoying battles, massive amounts of grinding, envirmoment can be fairly linear with only a dungeon or two out of the main sotry arch. etc!

Hmm, you should have thrown Valkyria Chronicles in there too (JRP/Strategy cross).

Reminds me I've got to try and get a copy of Tales of Vesperia before it dissapears from the UK like Symphonia did.
