The problem is not that people are unable to achieve good, it's that goodness itself is subjective.
For example, I personally enjoy hunting and fishing. When I catch a fish, I can feed people with it.
When I successfully hunt an animal, I can feed people with it and or make stuff from the skin and bones to sell later.
I see my success at hunting/fishing as a good thing, but the animal rights crowd abhors that sort of thing.
One's viewpoint simply isn't able to be comprehended by someone with the opposite viewpoint.

That's why I live my life with balance in mind instead of good. For all the good I do, the order I create, and the peace I keep, I create evil/chaos/conflict, and vice versa. Well, that and because my balanced lifestyle doesn't cause change so I don't attract attention to myself and my plans can be executed with minimal hindrance.

OP I gotta thank you. I used to be angry all the time, at one thing or another, the word hate would slip out of my mouth more often than any other word.
One day I had a problem that sort of woke me up. The world is only how you look at it, and only you can change your perception. Now I try to find a few things every day to make me smile. This post and the pics attached to it are definitely one of them.
People, the world is only shitty if you choose to only see the shit. While there are a lot of bad things going on, you must remembber that the general news media isn't interested in reporting good news, just sensational money-making news.
You have to find the things in life that are worth smiling about. Start local, don't worry about the global crap. Just find something in your town/village/city/BFE that is smile-worthy.
Collect those things, share them with people. Bring more light to the world instead of perpetuating darkness with pessimism and doomsaying.
BE POSITIVE.
Thank you.

Thank you too. I just wanted at least one person to find something positive out of this.

Mission accomplished.

Despite all the stories we hear, we are still here. We are a murderous war like lot and yet we recently went over 7 billion.

So all in all, we must be doing something right.

What would the world be like if the majority of people were like this?
Do you ever wake up in the morning and say "You know what, today I'm going to go out of my way to make someone miserable."?

We all are capable and appreciative of the good. If you only focus on the bad, then you're unappreciative of everyone's capabilities in the world.

Plus, some of those pictures in the album were "Oh look, photographs of nature." Can't really say "faifh in humanitee restorred" from pictures of raindrops.

Well, that was interesting until I got to the up close spider pic. Seriously, creeps me the fuck out, even with the hat, and I had to stop looking.

However, the otter pic and the one with the baby and puppy pug cuddling were the best.

Thanks a lot, OP. This really made my day.

I know a lot of humanity is probably good, but when you hear so much crap on the news, it tends colors your thinking. It's nice to have a reminder that we're not monsters.

Thank you for making me cry, you bastard! ;.;
But then again, my heart is made of cotton candy so it's not exactly a challange for me to feel the emotions.

Thanks for sharing anyway. I was needing some happy thoughs.

I'm far too cynical to believe any of these are true, they're too cutesy-pie. Basically any story I read on the internet I doubt heavily. I'm not a total cynical bellend, but I already know that people can be nice, I'm not one of these people who claims to have 'lost faith in humanity'. I gain nothing from reading these, at least the 'look how witty and funny I am' stories can give me a chuckle even if they're lies.

Bah humbug.

I'm sort of on the fence about this.

I know that I say that humanity is doomed and for every 1000 horrible idiots that are around to roam free and screw up everything around them, there is at least 1 selfless individual who should be both praised and admired.

Unfortunately, there are not as many of these wonderful individuals that are in a seat of power in which they can influence the world enough to make a better place to live in (at lease more so now than before).

So while the giant pricks that are only concerned about the short-term gains while they effectively f*** up the world in the long run, I can at least be comfortable in knowing that somehow, the goodness in people will still persevere.

Humanity isn't that bad. I've heard that in reality, in times of crisis people actually tend to help each other out rather than devolving into a dog eat dog dystopia that you see all the time in movies.

I do every morning, and judging by this thread I'm going to have to step up my game.

I'm glad you brought this to my attention OP, I can see now I wasn't trying hard enough to ruin everything for everyone.

I hope that I live long enough to see a time where stuff like this is the norm. We can't get people in a posistion of power cos we have to be pretty shitty to get there. Something's gotta give.

Changing the world is one hell of a task, but it is possible. Always remember that the ''world'' includes you. You are part of this world. You always have the ability to change something about the world around you to improve it.
But I believe that if you want the people around you to change, be the example.
If others don't do it, do it! Don't wait for you peers.
Be the one who does the changes.

P.S. Nice Hanako avatar, did you draw it yourself ?
I'm going to save that text for whenever I want to succinctly say what I wanted to in the OP :)

And the Hanako avatar was found, tweaked and "avatarised" by our very own Caramel Frappe [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Caramel+Frappe] . We don't call him "The Escapist's Avatar Smith" for nothing :p

Meh really meh, I didn't need to see this. Some of these are nice a lot of them boring, I guess I'm suppose to care? I don't know, that just felt like an unpleasurable waste of time.
