I think the more important question is why the hell people care so much about it.
Not like Nintendo's been a beacon of originality these last few years with their games. Another Mario game, another Zelda game, another Metroid game, you know the drill by now. Yeah, Sony put SSB tags in their videos, how shocking. Clearly that's what we should pay attention to rather than the actual game, right?

At least Nintendo don't have to act like other people to be unoriginal, because Nintendo had original ideas in the first place. They just keep using the same main ideas though.
