So for a while now I've been debating whether to get a PS3 or not, however I have a 360 at the moment, and thus all of my games/gamerscore is on there.

Today, however, my 360 red ringed on me. I'm taking this as a sign that I should get a PS3...but I need some help.

Firstly, do you think it's worth it? My 360 is second hand, so getting it fixed will cost money. Baring in mind how much a PS3 goes for, do you think I should just get one (as of course, it has blu-ray, and I've heard it's a better gaming experience).
Secondly, what memory should I get? My 360 is 20GB, which is enough as I tend to delete games after I play them, but I've seen PS3's with a lot greater memory, making me think that perhaps games on there take up more space?

I'm really not trying to provoke a flame war here - this is an honest question and I just thought I'd ask here as I'm sure peeps know what they're talking about.

Ta.

I doubt you'l regret getting a PS3, its a great gaming system, Mine has provided hours of fun.

As for the memory thing no, I don't believe the games take up more Space, i have a 120 gig and its no where near full after playing over 30 games on it.

As long as you purchase the last 3 Ratchet and Clank games (which you can get cheapy cheap now) with said PS3 then you will not be disappointed.

Take it as a sign. Get that PS3 sir!
It can holds tons of games (...and pictures, videos, etc.) so you won't have to delete. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Memory shouldnt be an issue, I've had an old 40Gb PS3 for near 3 years now, and I've never filled it.

You'll have many a fun time here on the Sony side.

For space, you'll want to buy the cheapest model you can, along with your own hard drive. There are fairly cheap 2.5 inch (the kind that fit in laptops) drives on the market. Hell, they even come in terabytes now, though the PS3 can only register 2TB to my knowledge.

This way, if you choose, you can store all of your media as well as what you would normally have on the console in terms of saves and downloaded games/content.

you can easily get a new hard drive later on for cheaper than the difference in price sony sells them for, I have a 40g model with a 320g hdd in it. so get the cheapest model and upgrade later if you get close to filling it up.

Well how many games do you have on ur 360 o.o. Because if your getting a ps3 and never getting it fixed then those are kind of, well useless.

Anyway yeah i just got my ps3 last week despite having a 360 and it rocks. Personally i find it much better. I did get the 360 gig one, which i doubt i'm ever going to use up lol.

So far the games for ps3 don't take up much more space at all. The ps3 exclusives i'm finding much more enjoyable then the 360's exclusives: Demon's Souls, God of War 3, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, Resistance, Folklore. Badass games man.
I still love my 360 though ;)

Buy a wii, it has Netflix, and so does the PS3. But in all seriousness, yes. Buy a PS3, lot of fun games it has, and hey! It has Folklore, and I love Folklore, so you should too!

I've owned a PS3 for at least three years now, and have never had a problem with it. I find the PS3 to be a diverse, user-friendly and dependable system - and I highly recommend it.

Oh, and I wouldn't worry about the amount of memory - that's just because more free space is better!

(I should note that I have never owned an XBOX 360. For one thing, I hear they keep breaking down.)

sorry but because something broke, i dont see why that is a sign to get something of the opposite make? its like my pc breaking and going out and getting a mac... why not just get a newer more reliable xbox? like sergeantAnt said, how many games do you have for your xbox? plus what do all your friends have

Yeah go for it... I don't see any reason why you shouldn't. Unless you have a large library of Xbox games that you haven't got tired of.

I had the same problem at one point where every xbox I bought crapped out on me, so I got a PS3.
In the long run, the PS3 is cheaper, but the xbox gets more neat online features.

And the xbox as of recent has become more reliable, at this point either one is a safe bet.

I've had a lot of fun with my PS3 regardless of owning a good gaming PC. The PS3 exclusives aren't all made of solid gold, such as Killzone 2/3 which are good but not great games. The Uncharted games have really taken off and become fantastic games, I'd also reccomend Ratchet and Clank titles for outrageous fun.

So yeah if you feel like getting a PS3 take this as an endorsement lol

I've really liked my PS3 and haven't had any problems with it. Not sure about the memory though. I think I have 80 gigs, and I'm using hardly any of it. If you like to download a lot of stuff then you'll need to worry about it more.

The cool thing about owning a PS3 is that between a PS3 and a good PC you can have most good 360 games without even owning that console. And because its online doesn't cost any money, the PS3 is more ideal for players who only use online multiplayer once in a while.

On the other hand, Sony pissed me off into an unstoppable rage recently and I can't recommend buying the console for that reason alone.

I was fine that they got hacked. I was fine that they gave us really pathetic rewards for staying loyal to them. But then to take away those rewards NOT EVEN A MONTH after they put them out WITH NO WARNING for NO REASON was a real dick move.
