For the love of God, please spell check!

Anyway, Gamers are just whiny and negative towards any game that gets praise from critics in order to make seem like they have "high standards"
I agree with this to a point, most gamers aren't like this, but there always seems to be a very vocal, hipster crowd that will make up their mind about a game before they've even played it.

If a game is said to be good, people will most likely be looking up to it - so if it's bad, they'll be dissapointed.

-Pessimists usualy are not dissapointed, so if they think something is bad and it turns out to be bad, then they've lost nothing.

does anyone ever notice how we never complain about how crap games are crap. Well you have to understand that not every one can play ever game that comes out. So, or at least I hope this is true, people will try to limit themselves to only playing the games that seem like the most fun for them initially. And then only adventuring out of their comfort zone if they have the extra time and money.

Thus I am not going to play Beijing 2008 when I could go and play Killzone 2.

A perfect example of this would be how 50cent, blood on the sand, recently came out, and it was generally considered a 7/10. Most people were highly impressed. But if a game like GTA gets a 7/10, people are appalled, because they were expecting it to be better.

Nr 1. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever,he-ever, listen to critics, ever. They lie.
Nr 2. Try not to get your hopes up about anything, you're bound to get disappointed.
Nr 3. If you're expecting everything to be crap you're more likely to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.

Yahtzee may ramble a lot, but sometimes he's got a valid point.

Above is the original post, below is the corrected version.

Does anyone ever notice how we never complain about how crap games are crap? Yet we complain about how the AI is dumb and the story was probably written by a 1st grader on a game that might still be good but will get blacklisted by the gaming community (see halo3). We can have big discussions about how GTA IV sucked because it wasn't as funny but we never talk about how the new Dora the Explorer game wasn't any good.

Discuss.

First of all, if you wish to sway people to an point of view that you have you need to at least make an attempt to appear intelligent yourself. On that note, most browsers have spell check of some kind, and if not at least take the time to just paste it into mircosoft word or some other text editor. Also, you never need to tell people to 'discus' as we all have the good sense to know that this is forum and therefore a natural area in which to 'discus.'

Try harder next time, or at least try.

First, my response to the topic, since I usually like to actually make a valid point even if the thread is a load of rubbish for whatever reason.

Crap games aren't necessarily seen as crap by everyone. I am a fan of Halo yet a lot of people think that Bungie and Microsoft are just flogging a dead horse. As for the story of Halo 3, while we're at it, that couldn't have been written by a 1st grader because Halo actually has possibly the largest and most interesting expanded universe I have ever seen in a game, not counting the countless Star Wars horses that were killed, flogged, poked and made into glue that was also poked. And flogged. With a pointy stick. My point is, that everybody has different opinions, so there's no point saying that something is crap when really it's just you, and maybe some people you've spoken to, who agree. If you start a poll on whather any game you care to name is good or bad on here, there may be bias one way or the other but (as long as it doesn't refer to Twilight) there will always be people arguing both sides. It's as simple as that.

As for the second part of my post, i.e. referring to your own post, birdbrain, can you please learn to use some grammar and the Spell Check tool? I could barely understand half your post. For example, what does an Olympic Sport have to do with this discussion? You've been on this site long enough to know that we like people to use proper sentences and spelling/grammar here, and to make valid comments. You clearly do not. Just for future reference, if you want to stay on this site in the future...

In response to your first point, I wasn't talking about halo having a bad story or dumb AI, I was just giving examples of things that people complain about. And when I said Halo, I was just talking about a game that a lot of people hate but is still a good game.

For your second point......I guess I'm just not all that bright

Well if you think something is bad won't you be less likely to do it compared to if you've never done it before with no opinion of it prior?

Meaning you can't really talk about games that are bad becuase you've never played them(or not for long...) but games you thought were/are good/decent you have played at which point faults can appear. So I think it would be a little hard to rightfully talk about something you've never seen/played before.

Why would we be talking about dora the explorer? If a game is going to be bad we dont care, if a game looks like it may be jesus in video game format and it fails we then talk about it.
