Alting has turned me off to plenty of games with class systems, a few examples would be WoW, Dragon Age, and Nwn 2. Pretty much anything with a large amount of character customization. Does anyone else have this problem, or am i the only one?

My 20 WoW characters (with 6 being 78+, though admittedly, my Horde alts are all lowbies I don't touch very much, with some new race/class combos sitting at level 1) said I should say hi.

I definitely have an alt addiction. I have five WoW characters above 80, two of which are 85, Three more in the 60-79 range, and about a dozen more. I also make tons of new characters in Dragon Age and DA2, because I feel the need to try every combination of decisions ever. I'll also restart a game hours into it if I come to hate how I designed the character's looks.

Oh god yes. DA:O is currently the worst. I play through the origin and maybe Ostagar, and 4/5 I'll want to start over as something else. Did it when I was trying WoW as well. For some unknown reason I remade the exact same characters several times.

I absolutely LOVE creating new characters. I rarely level them to the max (for MMOs), or finish the story with them, but I just love creating them. Making the perfect class & looks for different situations, and RPing with them.

I have a theory that this is mostly because we want to create a world for our characters to live and not be alone in. Plus all those achievements for doing the story different ways don't hurt either. Hell in DA:O you need a minimum of 6 playthroughs at least to Ostagar to get every achievement, one run as a girl and one as a dude to get all the romance achievements.

But yeah, I used to have that problem, but I feel I've actually gotten over it for the most part, even though there are some lowbie WoW alts I can't bring myself to get rid of.

My first MMO was City of Heroes. I'm pretty sure that's what's called "enabling."

But yes, absolutely. It's not just CoH, but other games (especially MMOs and RPGs) as well. I just want to try everything at least once. Hell, I have about a one-man commercial empire (for certain values of the word "empire"), mainly because I like having at least one character for every profession.

I'm addicted to alts, but I rarely if ever make any real progress on any of them, some times it completely stops me from playing a game to the end at all, I just keep making new characters and starting over with them...

I've made at least fifty or sixty different COH characters, and NONE of them have made it past level 20

When I played it, I pretty much paid fifteen dollars a month or whatever it was just to compete in costume contests.
