A universe where there was an ancient empire of super wizards, but they fell and now tribes of barbarians live in the ruins of great magical cities fighting petty wars with weapons of untold power that they barely understand.

And the ancient empires system of portals still exist, linking a hundred worlds.

The Soviet Union beats the U.S. to the moon leaving Americans demotivated and Russia leading making great strides in the way of space exploration. The Russians then make first contact with alien life in 1994, 4 years after the launch of the Ruble Telescope and attempt to create a peace between the species. The bitter American president Bush uses propaganda to declare war on the new species leaving the Russians to fight against America and some factions of the peeved aliens.
I would play that. I would pre-order the special edition.

OT: How about some crazy guy corrupts time, giving modern technology to several major historical battles and you're sent back in time to make sure they come out properly, seeing as the tech was only given to what we know as the losing side? It'd get some people interested in Waterloo, Sekigahara or Gettysburg, and you wouldn't have to deal with muskets taking forever to reload after one shot.

Personally I think a universe where the Soviet Union (right after VE day)continued pushing west and began attacking the western allied powers. Imagine how that war could have ended up.
Wait. You mean like...Red Dawn?

There is only one true answer to this question.
That answer is: cowboy parallel universe.
I'm a fan of alternate universes, but I think to get your moneys' worth, it'd need to be in a "Sliders" type setting; where multiple universes are visited and each are slightly different versions of the "main" universe.

How bout a zombie game set in the civil war era. Lining up a shot with a musket and then pulling out your sword for hand to hand combat with the zombie horde

A Mistborn action RPG would be fun. If they kept true to the books the combat would be very deep and interesting.

Though, I don't think they'd be able to make a very good video game story out of it. They'd probably butcher it horridly.
There's actually one being made right now, and Sanderson is writing the story for it. It's being kept tight under wraps, but he's dropped a few hints about it.
Really? That's awesome!

/cross fingers and hopes it's good

A game where Antarctic hobos decide to show themselves to the world, and riding their mega-walruses, ride north and begin to conquer the world. Starting with the fall of South America, South Africa and Australia, the war starts in Mexico, India and all across Europe, as with their Penguin pistols, snow ball bombs, and immunity to bullets, the world convenes a treaty that goes worldly, and any and all scientists are moved to Canada, where they work on creating weapons to defeat the Artic hobos

The player would jump between multiple characters throughout the battle fields.

There's also an alternate mode in which you play as a South-Hobo and conquer the world.

Take THAT timeline, why aren't there Arctic hobos?

A strategy game akin to Victoria where you manage a nation in a fantasy world which is currently experiencing their industrial revolution. So, what'll you do? Devote your research towards steampunk technology (with dieselpunk further down the line)? Continue to master your nation's grasp on magic? Maintain the old ways of guilds and masters or enforce mass production? Trade and be BFF's with your neighbours, or conquer them? Colonize or isolate?

The endgame will employ manaboms. Loads and loads of manabombs.

Or a xschock-like game set in a fantasy world that have reached an age sort of like ours. Imagine a mana refinement facility that suddenly blows its top and it's up to you, caught in the thick of it, to battle your way inside and close the rift.

I'm just very fascinated by the idea of a fantasy world that actually develop. :3
