Nowadays beating a game is not really that big of a deal with save points, infinite lives, and the option to alter the games difficulty. I remember back before any of this was even introduced into the gaming world, when everyone was on an even keel and the closest thing there was to getting a leg up on the game itself were either warp zones or codes you had to enter, and some of those were very weird and would never have been thought of implimenting or even found by the player. When I was younger and you were sitting around with your friends talking about games and one of you said "Oh yeah, I beat that" was considered untilmate bragging rights. Some of you might be to young to have played the older generations, but as a whole, games back then were much harder then games today.
So I ask you escapists, do you remember the very first game you played all the way to completion? If you do, what game was it, and how did you react the moment the very final baddie was defeated? I'm not excluding the younger players or those that have only been gaming with the moe recent generations, any answer is good.
Mine was Geurilla War for the NES and I was around 8 years old. It was one of the few games at the time that actually had Co-op and wasn't an arcade game. Myself and my cousin beat it, it took us three tries and hours of gameplay over the course of the night because if you got a game over in that game it was precisely that.... Game Over, back to the beginning. We then proceeded to whoop and hollar because it was the first time either of us beat a game.
