No. There's no such thing as psychics
You're amazing!
How can you know that? You must have looked into the future to a time where science has actually disproved psychics. But then... wouldn't that make you a psychic? Maybe you're a time traveler.

Either that or you're arrogant enough to claim as fact something that is actually opinion or belief.
I wouldn't go so far as to call him arrogant. Did you not realise this could also be his opinion as well?
It'd be fine if it was stated as an opinion.

God exists - stated as fact
I believe God exists - stated as opinion (or belief)

I guarantee he'd be copping a lot more flack if he'd said the first of those 2 options because as everyone knows, there is insufficient evidence to say "God does exist". This doesn't mean you can't believe God exists, or have faith in his existence, it just means you should be more careful with your wording.

I think there must be some kind of strange Simpsons phenomenon because I find that if any day I'm thinking about a part of an episode of the Simpsons and I happen to watch it in the next couple of days it's the same episode I was thinking of earier. It happen surprisingly often. I think it has more to do with the Simpson than with me being psychic, maybe I think about The Simpsons a lot and statistically speaking one of the episodes I have to be thinking of is very likely to be featured on TV... I dunno, something. Anyway, good to know I'm not the only one who notices this.

Ah yeah that makes sense.

Confirmation bias. You (inadvertently) only notice the positive results, not the incorrect instances. You think you are psychic , but you are actually wrong at least as many times as you are right, you just do not remember the times when you were wrong because they are not memorable.

It happens a lot to me too but I wouldn't call myself psychic. I think any psychic phenomenon can be broken down to a mixture of luck and educated guessing.

I laughed at this.

Considering that they play like 10 episodes of simpsons a day of Fox 8, I'd doubt that this is that unique.

I have a weird theory about it. I believe in fate, everything is set in stone. I believe that everyone gets small premonitions but disregard them. Like Deja Vu.
So you don't believe in free will? So if you go to your fridge and choose Orange Juice instead of Milk, 'fate' brought you to that decision, not the simple craving for OJ?

No. That's coincidence. It'd more likely be Psychic if those episodes were airing for the first time, and yet you imagined those scenes.

Fate made you crave OJ, more like.

The craving for OJ caused that decision, not free will. Does free will exist? Essentially, yes, physically, no. According to science, all decisions people make are caused by chemical and electrical reactions in the brain. These reactions follow the laws of cause and effect. A non-existent concept such as "free will" can't technically cause different things to occur. Because of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, it's not possible to determine how someone will act, but they will act in a consistent way in precisely the same scenario. However, the illusion of free will exists so convincingly, all morality can be based off of the assumption that free will does exist.

To believe in genuine free will is much harder than believing in the illusion of free will. Do you believe that your brain is bound by the laws of physics, or do you believe that your soul/will/whatever can magically overrule these laws? Personally, I'm happy with my illusory free will. If I had real free will, I'd do all the same things anyway, according to this philosophy.

As a lot of people have said, it happens to everyone. Although I get it with Family Guy, mostly.

However, I have a question - how does everyone doing this mean it isn't a psychic phenomenon? Surely a greater number of events occurring implies a lower chance of coincidence?

'Twas the night before christmas when the OP of the thread, saw Marge Simpson in his head.
That same night, the same thing happened 'for realz'.
And God said to the OP: "My child, it was but a coincidence. Don't think about it.".

EDIT: I'm God by the way...

I'm suspecting this "ability" to see the future is closely tied with the brains ability to predict certain actions that will happen in the upcoming few seconds. Could this be the brain interpreting certain things during the day and making a prediction regarding specific actions that might happen in the future?
