For me it's like this:
-racers on expert
-FPS on hard
-RTS on easy
and everything else on normal

I never play games more than once (with the exception of Grim Fandango). Oh, and I mostly play for the story, that's why I like so few of them.

As a rule I generally play games on their default difficulty, but sometimes its like running at a wall head first(Ultimate MK3 comes to mind). I dont criticise anyone who plays on easy/very easy if they have never played or completed the game. But I do think that once you've done it you should try a higher setting even if its only to increase the
re-playability.

I always play on the highest difficulty available to me because I can usually do it and not become frustrated and the sense of accomplishment is worth it in my opinion.

The one exception of my idea hear is God of War...holy hell I have never experienced such difficulty and frustration as when I played through God of War on Spartan...I hadn't even unlocked God mode yet.

Difficulty should be tetris. Noone ever wins.

But they keep playing. Again and again.

I play every game on hardest. If i wanted a form of entertainment that requires no concentration or skill i'd just watch a movie.

I usually play games on the normal difficulty first, before raising it, although when I'm playing co-op I usually put the game on one of the hardest difficulties. I'm one of the new breed of gamers who don't seem to have fun being killed every few seconds. Although, if you want a challenge, try Kane and Lynch on the highest difficulty.

I like putting my games on high difficultys, but if I start getting angry I usually just either take a break or turn the difficulty down a notch.

I remember going to a "lan" party "store" in my city called Switchbox where there were regulars who played counterstrike all damn night, and all they did was swear, loudly, in the presence of under 10's, and I had to wonder, it doesn't actually sound like they're having fun, it sounds like they're getting really pissed off. Why do people do that?

I like my games to be realistic but action packed. I'm terrible at R6, But I like the idea I can only take a few hits, along with the enemy.

I tried COD3 on veteran and got half way in 6 months. I just like to chill with my games now. I find life is stressful enough without my quiet time being relentlessly challenging.

im the kind of guy that puts CoD 4 on veteran the first time i see it just so it takes me abit longer to complete it.

I like playing FPS on average difficulty but when im done with that the only replay value is beating it harder, and even harder then that. If the game wont allow me doing anything harder then i just limit myself to 1 weapon. Beating Halo 3 with melee only on legendary (co-op though :D) or to really get my stress level up i play Halo 3 on legendary and activate every skull there is, for those who dont know what skulls do: Skulls can make easy impossible by changing certain rules. like enemys get double health, you get half of the normal ammo, your shield will never recharge unless you melee an enemy.

five words "charle dont surf on vetran"
the feeling you get after beating that level is great it (almost)make all the tears and swears worth it
