The only thing you did wrong was not kick him an extra time in the teeth so he'd remember that everytime he looked in the mirror.

Depends on his personality traits. Since we don't know him well enough it'll be hard to tell. If he does, next time just drag him into a police station. This especially good if he has his knife with him. If he doesn't, try to talk to a friendly police officer about the situation to maybe give him a proper "you're going to jail" scare. Losing his freedom might mean more to him than losing his front teeth. Alternatively, if he's very young, take him to his parents. Even if they're good parents (unlikely) they'll give him enough trouble to make him think twice next time. If they're not good parents, they'll still give him trouble because you're giving them trouble because of the kid.

Worst case scenario, next time just drag him off somewhere obscure, give him a considerable beating (wear gloves for your own sake) but make it really clear that next time you WILL kill him. The crucial part here is: You have to believe you'll do it.

Once they realize that their life is on the line, they usually back away.

For one, that load of crap you just told us is defiantly a lie.

And for two, your brother's problems are for him to deal with. You should only intervene if he actually pulled the knife on your brother.

Alright, so here is what happened, one of my friends' younger brother has been getting bullied all year round by another grade 9 kid and me and my friend have told this kid four times that if he kept bullying my friend's younger brother we were going to beat him until he cried. So here's my background with this kid... just thought it would be important to explain the situation first.

So last week-end I was at a popular local band's show with a couple of friends when I saw the kid bullying my friend's younger brother so rather than warning him a fifth time i dragged him to an alley and punched him in the face once, he got up and pulled a knife on me so I warned that if he didn't put it away he would have to drag him self out of the alley. Unfortunately the little shit ignored the warning so when he lunged at me I broke his arm and ran his face against the fence in the alley. Needless to say he was on the ground crying when I walked out of the alley.

So I was just wondering was I in the wrong to do that? and do you think the little shit will be stupid enough to bully my friend's brother again?

Edit: The more important Question is do you think he's going to bully my friend's brother again?
First, you totally gain GOOD KARMA for that. You won't get the Goul Mask, but still.

Secondly, I wouldn't have broke his arm. The problem is, if your a adult and do that to a kid, you'll be in flame faster than wearing a Uncle Sam costume in the middle east. No matter what you said, nobody will believe your word against the word of an "Innocent child". If not, well, your home free (except if he call his friends to get back at you). Beside, where did he pull that knife? If you are an adult, or your just a bastard, here is what you do next time.

First, you can pull him in the alley. They can't prove that you pull him there to fight. Second, what you did was correct. He attack you, You broke his arm, everything! Than, What i would do is take the knife and let the kid there. Next, you call a ambulance and the cop, declaring to be assaulted by the kid (before he do it). You give the deposition to the cop, the knife, and tell them where he is. Tell them everything: He is a bully that attack your friend brother, you wanted to make it stop and he lunge at you with the knife. The print on the knife take a few weeks, but they will identify the knife as (insert bully's Name here). Now, the bully is at the hospital, they have his knife, your clear because of self-defense, and the cops will open a case on the kid. Naturally, the cops will speak to his parents which will put him in a deep sh*t. Second, if they try to sue you, you'll have a solid case and the opportunity to counter-sue them. That kid will be punish by law and since he lunge at you with a knife, that Attempted Murder which will land him.... I'll stop there.

That would have given you Good Karma, a Hero Status and get rid of that Bully for a long time.

I'm a horrible person, am I not?
Although, the kid with the knife did not start the fight, it was Smokepuddle who attacked first, so he would at least get in some trouble for that.

Absolutely not. The only thing you forgot to do was kick the little shit in the ribs a couple of times(not hard enough to break any, just enough to severely wind him). That guarantees he'll think twice next time.

Pulling a knife... kids these days do not know how to fight.

Well, he pulled a knife on you, what were you supposed to do? Give him a cookie?
No. Teaching him a lesson is much better in that situation, that or running. But if you actually had run away, he'd thought that he were much more of a badass than he actually are, so teaching him a lesson was pretty much the best way to go.

I just had to.

Did you say "Tough break, kid" after you broke his arm too?! XD

I just dont find this story to be believable at all.
AWWW SHIT! ZINGAAAAAAA!

OT: I also find this difficult to believe. You want us to believe that you broke someones arm, rammed their face into a fence, all the while they had a knife pulled on you? Even ignoring the knife, its pretty damned hard to break someones arm in a fight. I've seen broken noses and fractured wrists from fights, but the force to break an arm would be pretty intense.
I just can't bite that you broke someones arm.
No it isn't. Just bend it the other way and exert force on the bone. The usual 'bone-breaking statistic' is that it takes 9lbs of direct force to break bone, and even calling into question that this is bullshit, factoring in that this kid is young and his bones are still developing and easier to break than an adult's, and assuming that the OP is at least a few years older and weighs significantly more, it really isn't that hard at all.

Wow, just how old are you? Beating up on a year 9 kid. He probably was carrying a knife coz he was terrified you were going to bully him.

Anyways, you should've pulled a different move on him which would have disarmed him and left him in tact, that way he also leaves with some dignity, and doesn't have to explain what happened to the hospital. That sort of thing could get you castrated.

Just be careful because you don't know who you might be messing with and what sort of connections they or their families have.

Hope you don't end up dead.

Geez where do you live? Kid's pulling knives on you? Blimey. Society really is going down the drain.

But good on you. You did nothing wrong. Bullies get what they deserve.

On the other hand, if this kid has relatives or bigger friends, you might have started something, so you should be careful.

I hope that the area I live in never becomes anything like the area you live in though. Apparently it's quite violent out there, where ever you are.

And you probably shouldn't have left him there. If you really did in fact break this person's arm, and you just left, and he is a lot younger than you, and if he knows your name, you're in trouble pal. Seriously. Especially if you're over the age of 16 (or 15 depending where you live). Because you left, he can say anything. He can say you assaulted him, threatened him. Anything in fact. And if he is a lot younger than you, the police are likely to believe him over you.

I hope to hell your story isn't true, or you could be in for a world of legal hurt.

Nah hell probably just find a smaller more socially isolated victim to vent his shit on.
Most crime and bully shit is about opportunity.

That's not anything wrong. Not only did he mess with kid you told him not to mess with, he also pulled a knife. So yeah, I think you were pretty much justified.

You were in the wrong; you should've gone through with your warning the second or third time he did it.

OT: The guy deserved what he got. It's pathetic that he felt the need to keep bullying your friend's brother, and sometimes people like that need to get their ass kicked to straighten them out. And I doubt anybody would tell you off after the guy pulled a knife on you. Yeah, you threw the first punch, but how the fuck can someone get pissy at you for protecting yourself?

No, personally I'd have taken the knife and seen if I could convince him I was going to hand it to the police with his finger prints on to get him arrested. Anyone with half a brain wouldn't buy it, but he doesn't sound like he has even that.

Nice job on taking that ***** down. What kind of coward is he, he earned the beating he should have taken it.

EDIT: A few people are saying that you should have let the authorities handle this, I think they're living in a slightly different world, up till he pulled the knife he hadn't done anything the police would care about. And now he has pulled a knife there's no way to prove it so they still won't care.
Even if the cops could prove it and did care. There is nothing worthwile they could do under any countries laws I don't think (until he puled out the knife).

The OP is in the right here.
