Happens to everyone eventually it seems. I got the same thing, barely play anything anymore and when I do it's always an old game that I know is good, or I play a total war campaign or an rpg which playtime has slowly spanned over the course of eight months. Eventually you have played so many games that the bad ones loose their appeal. When games where a new and fresh activity you where the reason games like Halo are so successful, but there is only so many bad or mediocre games the memory can take before it rejects them because the problem with bad and mediocre games is that they are nothing new. Video games are an odd ordeal, the think tank of hollywood can spit out a thousand generic action movies and we will still praise them individually as if they are each their own or if a comic book character is in them. But video games have a much harder time with this and an entire product that someone has slaved over can be written off as being nothing but another generic FPS.

You're just becoming more selective, it's how it goes.

Everyone goes through it, try not to think of it so much. I play games far less than I did 2 years ago but I do play a lot of better games and enjoy my experiences with them more since it's not an playing constantly thing. You'll start looking forward to it "Yeah I can't wait to play Team Fortress 2 later!" like that but much less lame sounding.

1. How many decades have you seen pass?
2. Are you currently madly, passionately in love with someone of the opposite gender?
3. Are you currently madly, passionately in love with someone of the same gender?
4. Are you currently writing a book/painting something/ engaged in another pursuit?
5. What platform do you play on, and which games do you play the most?
6. Are you aware that none of the precceeding questions were terribly important, and that you slump will most likely pass the next time you buy a Ubisoft product?

Please answer the above inquiries, and I shall provide a diagnosis.

Congratulations my friend. You've grown up. Either that or your bored of the poor selection of games around at the moment...

I suggest kingsized packets of crisps, a dark room and 24 hours of non stop game play.

Well, why not take a break from play "video games" and come back to them, you've probably got bored of them if they've become a part of your daily routine, and you'd enjyo them more if you played them on a less frequent scale.

Thanks guys, I've been confused for a while about why my games seem less interesting, seem like this is a normal occurence. Thanks for the advice.

My fellow Escapists, I'm scared. Recentally, for some reason I've been losing my interest in my video games. It's weird, these are games I love, but for some reason I just can't bring my self to play them, or if I do play them it is only for a short amount of time.
I know the feeling. I think it's a lot to do with the fact that most of the games coming out now aren't particularly interesting. Most of them are sequels, and as such we've seen it all before. Which is why I would recommend going back and playing older games.

If you are finding those boring as well, however, I don't have any advice, though I can sympathise. For me, at least, it's that I'm generally apathetic about damn near everything. It's getting quite worrying, actually, but the point is that I find it very difficult to motivate myself to do anything. I just don't care any more.

If you are bored with all games, I'd suggest just taking some time off them. Just relax for a bit; read a book or something; spend some more time with your friends. Other than that, I don't really know what to suggest.
