Am I rediculous for being a little disappointed my kids will be asian?

Seriously, what kind of weird stories were people imagining in their minds when they read "Am I ridiculous for being a little disappointed my kids will be Asian"... Seriously, please do enlighten.

Okay, now that I've read WHY you'd be disappointed I guess I understand. Really should think about rewording the title though, but then again you probably wouldn't get as many responses.

Lets just say my career is heavily tied to advertising and I was going on the hope people would read before jumping out of there chair. Plus the title would be ridiculous if I full explain myself right there

Its a bit odd. I myself sometimes feel a bit sad that I won't pass off my genes, even though I morally object to it, seeing as my genes are basically "cancer, cancer, cancer, alcoholism, high-intelligence, schizophrenia, alcoholism cancer, cancer, and alcoholism". Yet, despite that, it depresses me sometimes. Although once I finally do have children, I think that feeling will go away, and I think you'll feel the same way too. Once you have a child, everything changes, and the "I want my child to..." usually evaporates instantly.

Your genes won't "die" they will just be overpowered - if your son or daughter grows up and gets busy with a ginger your genes might still win out through double recessive. I think anyway - that's like... 2 semesters of biology talking which isn't much but as I understand things that's the situation.

Correct, they simply won't show (phenotype). My mom is a "brown person", her father was very dark, but her mother is blond haired and blue eyed. I have dark brown hair, and blue/green eyes. My sister has auburn/red hair and blue eyes. Oh, I have a brother who's "brown" too.

Whenever you hear "genes going extinct" that's a big red flag.

Ok before everyone starts flaming me HEAR ME OUT. Ok so my fiance is Chinese and I am what they call "Ginger" and I am not going to lie am sorta disappointed that my genes will die with me. Red heads are a dieing breed as it is I am sorta a little disappointed I won't be able to pass on my genes that are quickly becoming extinct. I mean don't get me wrong I will love my kids regardless and such and such it just feels a little disappointing to not pass on my rare genes.

On the plus side since I won't look like my kids at all I can just grab them and run and watch people freak out as they assume I am kidnapping my own kid lmfao.

Red heads are hardly a dying breed and if anything, they can sometimes be a very superior (I use the term loosely) gene. I've seen red head genes skip three generations in a family. Many of my friends who have had kids ave red headed kids, while not they nor their significant other is red headed, and they found out one of their grandfathers, fathers, mothers, etc had red hair. You may not see it in your kids, but they will not die with you. You may see them down the line, and it's not uncommon for red headed genes to fix themselves into your children in a small way.

My point: You may see it in your kids, or grand kids, etc, but don't think the ginger gene dies so easy.

Kinda makes sense. Seeing a bit of your own phenotype is a parental bliss, but you'll live on in the recessive genes, making genetically-confusing grandchildren and whatnot.

Your genes will never die, as long as you have children. The may adapt, or change, but wont die. Besides, down the line, your grandchildren or great grandchildren may have glorious red hair.

Even if you were to have a child with another red head, that child may not be red headed. Just be glad that you will have children, so your genes will live on, as long as they do.

How ginger are you though?

A lot of people find fully ginger people unattractive so maybe you are lucky.

Also I wouldn't say there is anything wrong with being disappointed but you should try and get used to it and forget about your disappointment though at some point.

I am fully ginger well my hairs gone more strawberry blond over the last few years but outside that.
