Am I the only one here counting down the days for Skyrim?

Experience with Elder Scrolls games says you shouldn't. They are always buggy on release and the system requirements are so high that you have to wait three years before a computer that can run it acceptably goes on sale.

I have hope for this one. It's not going to be on the Gamebryo engine so (hopefully) less bugs.

I actually spent about twenty minutes talking about how awesome Skyrim is going to be with a couple friends of mine today, so you're not alone.
What isn't on the Gamebryo engine? It's one of the most ubiquitous engines out there.

Oblivion et al weren't buggy because of Gamebyro. They were buggy because Bethesda is physically incapable of releasing a game that isn't a bug riddled mess. Given their pedigree, them teaming up with Obsidian for New Vegas was particularly hilarious. I was half surprised when the game didn't go sentient and start a global thermonuclear war that had to be thwarted at the last second by Matthew Broderick.

Anyway, I'm super looking forward to Skyrim, a few months after release, when it's been patched a few times and some good mods are available.

Am I the only one who wishes people would stop making these 'Am I the only one?' threads...

Of course there are other people who want it. Why ask a question with such an obvious answer?

'Hey guys, am I the only one breathing right now?...'
Am I the only one that understands these threads are a rhetorical figure of speech? That replying with "well duh, no" doesn't mean you're witty or intelligent but instead you're dense or a douche.

OT: Not me. I don't care much for any previous Bethesda games and while Skyrim intrigues me, I am waiting to hear the games criticism before I just believe Bethesda's press statements.

Of course I understand that it's rhetorical.

I'm just saying that posting a 'am I the only one' thread is unecessary as he could have just called it... I dunno. say: 'Who's looking forward to Skyrim?'

I'm happy for it, also counting down.

Also, "Bug-Ridden Mess", you've never played Final Fatnazi or ANY BioWare Game...

And your post pointing out a commonly accepted turn of phrase, or idiom, as somehow unnecessary is a supreme act of delicious hypocrisy.

Also, I am wet with anticipation for the release of Skyrim because no matter how buggy some might consider their worlds, they are still completely and utterly fantastic to explore.

Considering it's a Bethesda game there's no way I'm gonna get all hyped up for it. They have a habit of screwing stuff up, and I'm not just talking about the glitches.

You can't just decry another person's opinion as unecessary and think yourself clever.

Of course it's unecessary, I'm not considering for one moment that my opinion is at all necessary. It's just what I think.

I'll probably buy it on release, but I'm not going to go mad over the wait for it (unlike Mass Effect 3. It's going to be so hard to keep avoiding all the preview threads for that one). Bethesda aren't exactly master storytellers and I'm not one of those people who craves freedom of exploration. But I sunk a lot of hours into Oblivion, so I'm sure Skyrim will serve me well.

I'm really looking forward to it. There's a date though and no amount of thinkign about it is going ot make it come out before that. lol.

I'm a little trepidatious about the consolised controls. But I'm open to them improving and streamlining stuff.

My plan is to wait for the GOTY Edition so I don't have to shell out as much for DLC.
