I thought they ate people... or am I mistaken with all the corpses I've been finding in their layers? Well, even if they don't eat them... that's still pretty wasteful.
Possibly, but if they destroy people's food it's the same thing, people won't have food for them to steal, or food for themselves to eat. So even if they eat the people, the people would die from starvation, and thus there would be no food for the raiders all the same.

You're factoring in that they're smart, when they've proven quite the opposite. I don't think these guys are actually led by any one man nor are they organized, they seem like scattered packs more than anything else.

I mean there are some that are organized, yes... they're the exception to the ones that attack a guy in Power Armor and who happens to be wielding a laser chaingun. While all they come at you with are improvised knives and pistols while wearing tires.

Did you say that they were purposely adding useless skill sets? Could you please tell me what the logic behind that could be?

Also, I'm looking forward to this if only for hardcore mode.
The original Fallouts had them. I say useless, they have a use. The most notable is Gambling. Its not useful because even though it might help a little, its still a game of chance. The others, well, I'm not sure, but gambling has been confirmed as a skill.
With Gambling 60-75 and Luck 6-7 you never need to worry about money (caps) in Fallout 1. It's not useless.

Haha, can't argue with that. I guess you're right.

Personally I sold for New Vegas.
But one thing thats bugging me recently:
Why do people hate games that havent even been released yet? Its just prejudice speculation.

I'm really looking forward to New Vegas. I'm currently entrenched in my first real good playthrough of Fallout 3 with the DLC, and a few good mods (Fellout, GNR: More Where That Came From, etc), and I'm having a great time In the Capital Wasteland. If what I'm reading is correct, and the shooting is better, then it should be one of the best games of the year.

The good news is that Caesar's Legion sounds like the raiders you were talking about. They'd keep farms alive after enslaving the people there... possibly massacring them after they learn how they manage the farm.

I just hope New Vegas isn't all dirt, you'd think they would have kept some trees somewhere in a garden or something... possibly from Harold on his march Eastward. I'm sure the New California Republic would have caught a couple of specimens. Just for the sake of farming anyways, I mean they did have the GECK with Vault City.

Fallout 3 was a top-ten all-time game. New Vegas looks to be more of the same. Where's the problem?
The price tag. It's not a new game, it's another city.

Can we not have Fallout 4?
That wasn't a problem with Grand Theft Auto Vice City and San Andreas...

Maybe so but wouldn't you prefer a Fallout 4: London, or something?

I'd prefer Fallout 4: The Commonwealth, if only for the first time in the series' history they could make a city actually look WORSE in a game than in real life.

The Capital Wasteland makes me think a nuclear weapon would actually improve DC based on my personal experience with the place in-game and in real life. I live in Reno and Fallout 2 gave the place a major makeover as far as I'm concerned. And from everything I've seen so far, New Vegas is giving the same treatment to Clark County's metropolis. Boston's a beautiful city, so I'd actually feel like the world lost something if they set a Fallout game there. Plus they could bring in characters like Zimmer and Madison Li (and perhaps A3-21, depending on what canonical outcome they wanted to assign to "The Replicated Man".)

uuuuuummm, WHY should the BoS not have been in 3???
Well, it just seemed so shoe-horned in. For one, in the 2nd game BoS was kinda dying out (notice, not much is being said about them for New Vegas), so it doesn't seem to make much sense for them to send a force across the country just to see if there is SOME tech when their numbers were dwindling anyhow.
I agree completely. And as a result, i will say this: In New Vegas, we get the New California Republic instead of the BoS and i don't see why Bethesda couldn't have added a faction like that into Fallout 3 instead of the BoS. Personally, i hated the BoS. I just wish they weren't mission critical. Then i could have wiped them out and joined up with the Outcasts. Or the mother fragging Enclave.

New Vegas LOOKS good, but so do most hookers. And like most hookers, i expect New Vegas to be riddled with bugs. I really hope it isn't, but looking at Obsidian's past, the modding community is generally called on to fix (and sometimes finish) their games. I am looking forward to not being in a crumbling city this time around.

So, because theres so few places... ah, screw it, you're right, theres no logical reason for no farms other than the fact theres an increased raider presence in D.C., and those guys seem the type to destroy crops.
Good point. Except that however destructive and evil they might be, there is a good chance that they would realize that destroying the crops means they can't steal food from anyone.
Yeah, but it all depends on how long it takes them to realize this, and the patience the growers have. I mean, what if they ruined three harvest without thinking, if I were the grower, I'd be tempted to just give up.

Here is my point by point explanation
1. they look so similar is the fact that THEY RUN OFF THE SAME ENGINE!!!
2. Regardless of it being an RPG or FPS is as long as it's fun nobody cares.
3. Did you know Obsidian is made up of quite a few people from Black Isle (Fallout's original developer), so the new developers know Fallout as a series better than anyone.

I know the complaint is always that they weren't given enough time, but Alpha Protocol was shamelessly delayed repeatedly and it was still unbalanced and buggy as hell.
I think Obsidian wanted to cancel it, but Sega wouldn't let them. So what became an exciting game, eventually became mowing the lawn with a broken down lawn mower. Responsibilities be damned! They can't mow the lawn with a broken lawn mower. Sega hands them a hedge clippers, for some reason, and tells them to continue anyways, it's hard to cut the lawn even with hedge clippers. Really hard... and it takes a long time.

Or that's the story I've heard. Don't know how much of it is true, but considering how Alpha Protocol ended up, it sounds like something Obsidian would want to cancel.
That's possible, but there's definitely a pattern here. Every Obsidian title to come out so far has had great potential but poor execution, and, every time, someone comes along behind and tries to pin the blame on the producer. If it was just one game I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but that's been the story for every game they've made.

Like I said, I really want to like Obsidian because they do tend to be very innovative, but I can't have much respect for a company with that kind of track record.

Fallout 3 was my introduction to the series and a damn good one at that. I would be content with just more of the same, as I have easily sunk over a hundred hours into the game and am sinking in more now.
