No, your most definitely not.

Apart from little known eastern European movie called "Let the Right one in", Vampires have been getting steadily shittier since Buffy stopped kicking ass several years back.

Well, there's always the Count.

Original vampires were awesome - Blade, Dracula, the guys off Van Helsing, etc. but now they're rubbish, Twilight, Twilight, Twilight, etc.
LOLWHAT.

I think you need to look up either the definition of original or study the history of vampires a bit better. If you think Blade is anything "original" in the Vampire mythos then you are sorely mistaken and your ignorance is, frankly, a bit uncomfortable to look at.

The only thing worse than Twilight fans is Twilight hates who refuse to shut up. We get it. The book sucks. I agree. It's freaking terrible but please just be quiet. It's worse than the Bush bandwagon of hatred as far as ranking tediousness goes. You don't have to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about it.
thank god someone said it.

I've never gotten into any of the popular media fads going around and with the Twilight series making a big scene I've just decided that I'll have no part of it and just leave it at that. This isn't necessarily a recent thing either. Going back to my high school years, the kids I frequently hung out with went on and on about this sort of thing like they're supposed to be some dark, evil, depressed "individual." And I'm pretty sure it's still a recurring theme.

But like I said, I just keep myself out of it.

Really the only vampire I really enjoyed was my character in Morrowind and even then I preferred the werewolf in the Bloodmoon expansion so I could kill everyone without people actually knowing it was me.

And this. Every word of it.

Twilight's hilarious, I thought the first three were funny enough, but SHITTING HELL the forth is just... it can't be put into words how side amazing that book is, was she actually high when she wrote it? She just threw away any remnants of realism the series might have had and wrote total bullshit for over 700 pages. It's only funnier because of how popular it is.

But seriously, yeah, it is a little overdone, and any stories are generally better when the aren't romanticised. Although I have to admit though, I really like Interview with the Vampire, mainly because Lestat is awesome. Seriously, just watch:

I prefer the film, personally.

Oh, and Sunshine by Robin Mckinley is good, it's quite a different take on the subject, and actually makes vampires totally not-human, and they're still very sinister. Me likey.

Hmm...let me think about that.

Nope. Can't see myself getting sick of vampires any time soon.

Does anyone share my POV, or can anyone explain what I'm missing out here?
99% of vampires in fiction represent pure creative bankruptcy.

They're horribly overdone, and very few people bother do to anything interesting with them. They're just stock monsters/characters to throw in when your story has nothing of it's own to interest the reader. World of Darkness is pretty cool for actually giving them some depth, but I can't think of many other good examples of vampires done right.
TrueBlood is doing a decent job so far.
i love true blood :D
i hate twilight
and i have read some decent stories
some are just crap though so yeah

Though I vaguely recognise the second picture, the first and third elude me entirely. Could you name their origins? Colour me curious.

It was pure unrelenting shit, the likes of which I have never seen. Do yourself a favor and read something with a decent story and more culture and perhaps a little depth. Try Hemmingway, Tolkien, Camus.

Sadly, one of them's sort of a spoiler. The second one, oddly enough, since
Satsuki Yumizuka becoming a vampire is rather a surprise in Tsukihime. Then again, she's also in Melty Blood, which sort of assumes you already know about it.

The first one is Arcueid Brunestud of Tsukihime (and <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kESYgMT1qA4>Melty Blood, Tsukihime's fighting game spinoff), one of the main characters and a True Ancestor vampire.

The third is the <url=http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Night_of_Wallachia>Night of Wallachia, the (first) main villain in Melty Blood. He's...a strange sort of vampire (and <url=http://anigiga.net/g4/data/file/etc_gallery/1994073914_c96c71c2_F2D8EAC5D3C9%2BEAC5FDEF%2BWarakiaA3AFTatari%2B01.jpg>batshit crazy, but anyway). He only exists every so often.

Thank you. Twilight is the most overrated movie/book in history. I don't know why, but regardless of the shitty story, Mary Sue character, dialogue that makes me want to puke, and horrible acting, somehow it still draws teenage girls to it like flies to a piece of shit. Which is kind of ironic. P.S.: What does Edward Cullen need fangs for? He could kill people with his hair.

Vampires need a revamp (pardon the pun) to be more compelling characters

I mean, psi-vampires....what is the point? They are suppossed to be blood sucking monsters not convieniently edited to make a PG movie

I would like to see the origional dracula done with all the innuendo, he he he
