ITT: Opinions!

Why the hell should I prove you wrong? You're entitled to your opinion. You don't like the game? It doesn't stand up to the personal taste you've developed. What, would you like a cookie?

And no, you are never the only one. Why must everyone start so many threads like this? It's pissing me off...
and we have a winner... best comment i have seen all day
also yes you are entitled to you opinion but there will always be other who will want to argue with it
That is the whole point to argument. I meant to spark debate. And most of the time, the way people spark debate, is by stating an opinion. OF COURSE I'm entitled to my opinion, that's why I stated it. But I also enjoy stimulating conversation on multiple sides of a subject. CHOOSE whatever side you like, I'll even play devils advocate, the whole point of starting this was to see what other people though and to look at this game from a different angle. Instead, I get a bunch of ignorant fools saying one of multiple things, either it's my first opinion, or you don't have to prove anything, or that I know I'm not the only one, christ. OK, so I worded it wrong, I'm sorry you take every word LITERALLY and talk like there is a stick shoved up your arse.

Also, I am though genuinely sorry for not providing ground for my own argument. Didn't think about it till now....damn.
you have a damn good point ... also i played through DA origons and finished it a few days ago ... the end was a bit of a let down so i think the end killed it for me now

see blizzard fans think dragon age ripped off warcraft, tolkien fans think dao ripped off tolkien and ad&d fans i am sure think dao ripped off ad&d cause all fantasy stuff has ripped each other off since the whole thing really took off and that would have been with tolkien and the hobbit and lotr.

Dao borrowed from every fantasy convention and added some interesting characters and packaged it the right way and managed to keep a certain old school feel to it.

now there are many fps children and oblivion fans where the style of combat is either chokingly obtuse or just downright stupid. since we only know how to shoot things and hack things up it must be a bad game if you have to control your whole party. really lest on the pc version you could set up your party pretty well with tactics slots and macros to handle themselves on most everything with rabid aoe use which the ai had no real great grasp on when and where to use aoe in its own but you could set it so you rarely had to touch your party.

pc even had mods to give your party 20 and 40 tactics slots so on the pc you could have so many different macros it got a bit confusing but it covered most any situation. so if you took a bit of time to dl some mods and set some macro triggers up you could play most of the game without ever having to micromanage your party. most of my dao experience was 3rd person i hardly ever used the top down zoom out option, and only for really really hard fights.

were there bad things about dao? sure the fact that it did not try to think outside the box more about the whole story. the fact the epic end battle was about as non epic as you can get, the darkspawn seemed more or less a joke, instead of a dangerous threat.

the good stuff? well it had a great world with alot of conflicting interests, each race was a bit different than the norm for most fantasy stuff it was interesting. the journey getting to the end was fun period. there were enough different options just in the storyline you could play through the same class 2 or 3 times and do things different and get different outcomes. the characters as usual for a bioware game were mostly fun to hang with and listen to. even the annoying ones could hove good moments. and as usual with a bioware game it forces you to make hard choices where you have to live with the consequences.

You left out my chosen option: agree with you.

Am I the only one who is noticing a bit of backlash against the Bioware fanboyism that, at one time, seemed rampant on this forum?

you basically summed it all up on what i was going to say

bioware does things differently, people come into the games going "WHAT IS THIS?!?" well..its bioware, if you dont like it, then oh well

they took alot of good ideas from all over and added em up and stirred up the pot and honestly i really liked the game but i do admit for sure that there was faults and boring parts here and there, but i loved it alot more than the average hack and slash rpg that has been the standard for some time
