I have yet to play Reach, but I'll put it this way: I enjoyed the Halo storyline more than the actual multiplayer (go figure, I'm probably a small % that sees it that way but my opinion is speaking here not yours ;) ). If what I have heard is truth then I wonder why bother releasing a weak single-player game at all? Why not trash the pretense and call it: Halo Vs. or some such moniker, make it full Multi-player and save themselves some development money? Why pander to us low percentages who like the story yet give us less than 100% effort?
As I said I haven't played it yet, but I have talked to a lot of friends who liked the storyline as much as I do and they're terribly disappointed.
Truth be told, I usually make the decisions myself which games to buy and which not to, and when I heard Reach was the setting, I was almost overjoyed. I loved the book concept but also am a realist, and I know that they may or may not use the in-place stories. Considering I don't buy Halo for the multiplayer, why would I even bother if there's a more than good chance I'm going to be disappointed with the story? I do trust my friends' opinions on games as we do share a lot of similar tastes.
I think I'll just wait for a price drop (1 year from now) and see for myself. But I can't see spending full price on 1/2 a game. Thats why I think Halo: Reach isn't the shining gem people make it out to be, or even made it out to be. Of course, its not based on personal experience, but my sources are good ones in my view.
