Am I the Only One That's Noticing This?

I have to say that I'm against Necro being banned. He's been around almost as long as I have, and I don't see why he can't post a thread stating his discontent with the community. I'm sure he didn't make anyone burst into tears reading that. Hell, couldn't the mods at least have tried probation or telling him first?

When was Necro not on probation? As I stated, this was probably the final straw on the back of his already impressive rap sheet.

Necro may have been a friend, but nobody is above the rules.

Necro got banned? Huh. I...want to say I'm surprised. I've had good and bad interaction with him in the past. That post was kinda assholish, though. Eh.

As for the OP, well...I've only been around for three months, but I haven't really noticed any difference in the amount of worthwhile threads in that time, nor in the amount of intelligent threads. They're still there.

Personally I find this thread much more insulting than Necro's, and I bet that if the OP had put up a few curse words and bold text he would have gotten a similar treatment.

You'll find that the curse words and the tone were the point of the ban. You can question the community all you like so long as you remain civil and sensible, and would you call that post either of those things? No. He was banned because his thread wasn't like this one, it was a raging, uncontrolled and unecessary bout of immature screaming. Hence, he is no longer with us.

So what is important is not what you say but how you say it? That's a superficial way of thinking (if I would even call it thinking)that can only encourage the myriad mindless "which videogame or unrealistic moral choice would you choose" circle jerks that occur so often on this forum. For though they offer no real discussion, they are very polite.

Personally I'd rather have the intelligent, concise and raving lunatic than the subtle, unassuming "nice" guy that offers nothing but ill-disguised contempt.

The Escapist is no better than any other gaming forum. We are not superior in any way.

I'm not saying we are 'superior' or anything, but I happen to like this forum as it is not filled with l33t-speak, trolls or the general depravity and idiocy of the anonomous-internet; even the flame-wars here usually involve some sort of argument and associated explanation of it.

So what? We have a slew of other problems. Also there is no such thing as an intelligent flame war.

Also to say the Escapist has less trolls is laughable. The worst part is that most of our members can't resist troll bait.

Ha we've found a witty one, ya know you're really straightforward in what you say, I like that. Honestly I wasn't trying to sugarcoat a damned thing, if it appears that way then tough luck, shit happens. I will however say that yes, I could have been less subtle but it seems like anytime that I'm straightforward with what I say to anybody, they run away crying because they don't want to hear the truth. You, however are quite the opposite and I applaud this, you have stated your opinion, given your reasons, and held your ground, bravo, comrade, bravo.
