Am I the only one who doesn't have Modern Warfare 2?

I don't have it, because I'm boycotting Activision until Robert Kotick has left.

I'm seeing a lot of discussion on MW2 threads, everyone seems happy and that's great.

But am I really the only one who didn't buy the game?

I loved CoD4 and put a hell of a lot of time into it
But the reasons I didn't buy the game are as follows:

1. I refuse to buy a game made by a publisher who think (know?) they can artificially hike the price of a game that they know will sell, essentially screwing over their fans for pure monetary benefeit. (at least Bungie TRY to cover it up)

2. I freaking HATE Robert Kotick...this could have probably gone in 1.

3. I'm just contrary like that

I'm aware that my petty protest won't even make a dent in the massive revenue of the game, and that Bobby Kotick won't notice my missing pocket of money in his ill-gotten mountain of gold but I just felt that I would value the trst of my fans a bit more if I was in the same situation.

I will buy the game eventually when I find it preowned.
Thoughts
I agree completely. I'm going to buy it preowned as well. The hype just didn't interest me, also I spent MW2 money on Assassin's Creed II. I'm also happy to say I made the better purchase.

I have it and alot of my online friends have it too. But some don't, some are still playing COD4 or they saved there money for Left 4 Dead 2 or Assassins Creed 2 that came out kinda close to Modern Warfare 2. I even see a few still playing COD: WAW from time to time, but I think that's just for the Nazi Zomibes.

I really have no immediate plans to play it, mostly because as I have said time and time again games that try to imitate the real world just bore me and I much prefer games leaning into sci fi and fantasy if I have to pick a story based genre. So I guess it just isn't my cup of tea.

I don't have it.

Course, I don't own an XBox.

My gf (who owns an XBox) also doesn't have it either, if that is of any comfort.

I don't have it either. Dragon Age and Assassin's Creed 2 were much higher up on my priority list. All of my co-workers have it, though, which means if we hang out we inevitably play together. And you know what...it feels kind of like MW1. Meaning, it's a shooter. A well done shooter, but nothing really game-changing here. And I'm just not going to pay 60 bucks for more of the same, particularly when it falls into a genre I only enjoy at the best of times.

No, I do not have this game, and I probably won't be buying it either.

All the more power to you for not buying a game in principle, if you're into that kind of thing.
Basically the only things you need to ask yourself is this:

-Does the game look like it could be fun for me?/Will it entertain me?
-Am I prepared to spend the money needed to buy this piece of entertainment?

Whoever made it and whatever the reason would be for the increase in price is beside the point. If the man you hate made a good piece of entertainment, why would you deprive yourself of entertainment just because one of the guys behind it looked at you funny in the metaphorical sense?

Also yes: Increase in costs to benefit developers/publishers are a *****, and there's probably some ethical ambiguity to be found behind it. Still if you can afford it and you want it then just get it. Like you said it won't have any effect on the big picture, and you'll probably be fueling the fire, but do keep in mind that if these price hikes go too far no one will stand for them, which means the people who screwed you over will be getting screwed by themselves and their greed.

Then again if it makes you feel better to not buy the game for the reasons you've presented than actually enjoying the game, by all means stay your course.

Don't have it yet, but probly gonna buy it come Xmas. Student loans are problematic for gaming you see, especially when you include bills for living off campus :p

I don't have it and I don't plan on getting it.

To me it just looks like yet another FPS war game, the ones which are released at a seemingly frequent rate.

don't have it and I don't plan on getting it, [rant]tired of all the FPS's I might get into them again if they stop making them for a while and they make one later as a change of pace variations in games made genres never get boring but fps is now a boring genre[/rant]

Not yet, and I don't have any particular burning desire to acquire it. Loved MW (still play online fairly regularly. I've only clocked more multiplayer hours on Gears 2), and from gameplay videos I'm fairly sure I'll love MW2...after I've got my hands on the numerous games above it in my Want list.

At the top of that list is Assassin's Creed II.
