I like Vista, but I really hate the backend of it.

It's a good OS for the most part, but it's terrible on the backend.

Eh. Vista works, but I just don't like it. I prefer XP's "do it" versus Vista's "look at it" feeling focus. I despise Vista's "open a window with SHIT ANIMATION" which seems to take a while even if it is less than a second. Ah well.

I don't mind it all that much, since I made sure to quadruple the RAM on my laptop before even trying it out.

...actually, the only serious problem I have with it is that it seems to take a ton of memory. My laptop is supposed to have a capacity of 67 GB. I only have 5 gigs left, but I can only see 28 on my hard drive (hidden and system files included). I'm kinda confused at that.

its a double sided sword for me. I have vista on my laptop and it is really good, but that's because my laptop is a little powerhouse :3 to be honest though, if linux had good support for tablets, then I would switch in a heartbeat

I work with vista everyday and the amount of incompatibility issues and slow boot times really irks me.

you just might be.

I despise breadcrumbs and I despise the new file manager.
IF THAT LOCATION DOESN'T EXIST, WHY IS IT LISTED AS AN OPTION DAMN YOU!
Someday google will release a computer OS and I will go use it like the loving slave I am.

I have a mac, my mom has a laptop with vista on it. I have used comparison, except with gaming. Vista kept freeezing up, lagging [and not because of the internet, my mac was working just fine. Also, with vista, it kept randomly clicking for me, and everything took forever to load.

I installed Ubuntu mainly because vista was the only other option.
Linux is pretty awesome.
I am most happy with it. Had a bit of a problem at first with 64-bit, but I just uninstalled it and put 32 on there.
Bad thing is it is not a gaming OS. I got a free gametap account and I can't even download their games because they do not support Linux.

I'm running vista right now and even though every other computer I've ever touched has eaten itself within a week I've had this one for a month and its all fine! I like vista!

I love vista everything works great on it as long as you take 3 min to set it up right. It runs fast and everything is easy to access. And all while running on a 1gig ram laptop with integrated graphics and a dual core 1.6 ghz processor lol :p

It's basically the same as XP, but with a different layout.

If you can't adjust to a slightly more artistic aesthetic, you probably have a learning disorder.

I worked it over a bit and I think its ok. But if windows 7 could possibly not take up all the space like the fat guy on the 6 seater of an airplane that is my PC that would be great.

If it weren't for gaming I would consider Linux. As it is I like Vista.

I have a tendency to try out software and install and uninstall programs a lot. Under XP this tended to result in the need for a fresh reinstall every 12-18 months as the operating system buckled under the weight of blue screens caused by incompetent developers and inadequate conflict management during installation and uninstalls.

I still do the same thing with Vista and, much to my surprise, it has coped admirably with blue screens being rare and, on the handful of occasions they have happened, rolled back properly to a stable state.

Also Vista's not THAT bad for gaming although I do still tend to run all DX10 games in DX9 mode where possible.

Vist isn't that bad. It has Direct X 10 and some things get installed in different places, but you'll need to have about 1 GB more memory for playing games than you need for XP, but I find GPU's more efficent on Vista. And User Account Control slows down some installations and sometimes UAC won't lets things work so you sometimes need to run as admin or in compatibility mode or both. Although it does have a habbit to 'not respond'.
