Vista isn't like Halo, its not just popular to hate it, its hated for good reasons, buggy, memory hogging, Crashing, administrator "Are you sure?" bullshit, They could have done much better, Hopefully 7 is the improvement PC needs.
Maybe not just popular to hate but I would say it's even down right fun to complain about!

Though I've never had any problems with it, I use it for home and the only thing I get to complain about is the constant asking for permissions thing.

Vista is wonderful so long as your not using for large scale networking.

With a few on a network like 5 or just 1 computer it has no issues. In fact I love it and running on it now.

Unless your a retard that can't work a calculator.

I used to really hate it, but I've learned to live with it now so it's alright.

I think the biggest problem was that my computer only had 1Gb RAM when I got it, so it ran like no-legged sloth. I've since stuck another 1Gb in and it's bearable. My brother just got a laptop with Vista and 4Gb RAM and it runs like a beast on meth... so that'll be my next purchase, just as soon as I can do so while still having enough money left over to not die of starvation.

it's not THAT bad, in all honesty, but it has some issues.

First, it's microsoft. People either love it or hate it. Just how it is, it seems.

Second, it's a hulking behemoth of an operating system that just eats resources. It's clunky and cumbersome, but since it's been patched up, it's quite stable, but seems pointed at people who don't know what they're doing.

Frankly, I have more issues with OSuX because alot of Mac users think that because OSuX is better than Windows they have a right to be pretentious. I, of course, am an arrogant Linux advocate ^_^
Well, at least you admit you are arrogant. I would never admit that I was pretentious ;-)

So many of my friends mention that they hate windows vista. I however, think it's great! I've never had problems with it, the security popups (do you really want to run this? etc.) are annoying, but Vista seems so clean, pretty and hey! It's got Directx 10!

Is anyone with me in thinking Vista is cool or am I weirdo?

First post BTW...thought you may like to know...
yes. you are the only one who likes vista.

I have been running it for a couple of years now and I will say before the service pack it was pretty poor. But now I have no problems with it it runs just as fast as xp does on the same computer and has all kinds of neat features that I do not use all the time but use often enough I miss them when working on an XP machine.

Running 3dmark and such on it compared to with xp instlled on the same machine there was negligible performance difference. It just works and works well now if only they would make an iso tool part of the dvd burning I would be a happy camper.

Bye the way comp specs in case anyone wants them
Intel Quad Core Q6600
4 GB of Corsair Dominator Ram
Single BFG Nvidia 8800 GT
2 360GB Sata Western Digital Hard Drives
Samsung DVD/CD Burner
Intel DG33TL MotherBoard.

I only use it on my laptop, and it's annoying, but nothing more than that. It's not like it's breaking my laptop and it's quite stable (IE breaks down sometimes for unknown reasons though, I'm too lazy to install FF), but it's just clunky to use and a nuisance. It also eats up a lot of resources, given it looks good, but I rather have that extra RAM it uses for some more usefull things.

I like it, UAC is sometimes annoying, but I put up with it. I can play my DX10 games too, which all the XP loyalists can't say.
I still will probably upgrade to Win7 when it comes out, only because it is a little more stable and faster. But I don't see why the XP people hate Vista so much, not that bad really.

Welcome t' t'Scapist, my friend.

Anyway, to answer you're question, I use Vista all the time, even for games, and I've never once had a problem with it. Well, my very first BSOD experience, but apart from that...

I don't mind it all that much, since I made sure to quadruple the RAM on my laptop before even trying it out.

...actually, the only serious problem I have with it is that it seems to take a ton of memory. My laptop is supposed to have a capacity of 67 GB. I only have 5 gigs left, but I can only see 28 on my hard drive (hidden and system files included). I'm kinda confused at that.
Yeah, that's my problem. I've got a 110 GB, next thing you know it's down to about 20.
Where the hell did it go?
