I know most people have played and liked GTA, but does anyone love it like I do? For more than just running over hookers and cops, but for being one of the greatest gaming experiences of all-time. I love the cities, music, style, characters, humor, freedom, and for combing all of those for an amazing game. Am I alone?

In reference to the vanilla, no-DLC version of GTA IV, yeah, it fell out favor with me. The difference between GTA IV and San Andreas is like the Earth versus Mars. I kept finding cool details in IV but lacked the ability to interact with them. I'm talking about the empty golf driving range on the Lower West Side that you couldn't use. And then there were the three empty skate parks I found which I couldn't interact with, again without actual skateboarders in them. It's not like I wanted jetpacks; I just wanted some minor distractions other than just drunk driving and shooting pigeons.

I don't blame Rockstar entirely for the lack of activities though. I also blame the millions of customers who (probably) bought previous versions of GTA and just fucked around, entering cheat codes to get the chainsaw, and started butchering prostitutes. Screw the side missions, much less the actual main storyline, right? The only gamers I personally know who played San Andreas did just that, and perhaps Rockstar somehow found out, like though focus groups.

Then again, IV was such a huge graphical jump from San Andreas (not to mention a generational console change) that Rockstar probably didn't have time to do all the smaller, cool stuff. I'm glad they announced all of that for GTA V.

I'm in a minority that likes GTA 4. Sure it wasn't as fun as the others, but it still had one of the better experiences of this generation. Liberty City is one of the most fun and alive maps I've seen in a game. And I actually kinda liked the driving...

Yup, you're the only one!

My personal adoration for the series died off after GTA 3.
1 and 2 were my favourites in the series by a long shot.

I love any games that present me with full-realised living breathing worlds and GTA has been the king of this style of game over the years. I loved 3 and Vice City, San Andreas had lots of great things, but felt a little too big, and IV was a little too serious and the driving and shooting was not as fun as it should have been. I can still say I love the series as a whole, however other games, like Just Cause 2 and Sleeping Dogs, have done some of the gameplay aspects better. I hope/think Rockstar will have addressed some of this with V and we'll have another great game.

You're never the only one.

There are 7 billion people on earth...why would you be the only one?

I can't stand these kind of threads....are you looking for justification or confirmation about your love for GTA?

Are you alone in enjoying, on a deep emotional level no less, one of the most acclaimed and best-selling video game series?
Of course. I've never even heard of it

Seriously, GTA5 cost something around $260 million to make, and the pre-orders alone made the money back.
So no, you're not alone; far, far from it.

I personally don't like the series, but that's because I prefer the theme/setting of traditional gangsters than modern *gags* 'gangstas'. That's not to say I dislike everything Rockstar makes, because Red Dead Redemption is one of my favourite games of all time.

GTA is one of the most beloved series of all time, so no there's no chance that you're the only one. In fact two of my friends are massive GTA fans and I can't avoid GTA V news because of them.

Am I alone in loving ice cream. I know people eat it a lot and it's an universally popular snack, but does anyone really love it?

Yeah, I get annoyed when people use "Am I the only one" reasoning when it's so painfully obvious that they're not alone. GTA is so obviously a beloved franchise which gets a lot of over the top praise from some. It's clear that a lot of people absolutely love the series.

It's not a literal question, "am I the only one" is more a figure of speech than an actual question. I hate when it's being used like this though. Am I the only one who doesn't care about GTA V? Would be reasonable because it can certainly feel that way when people fawn over it. Am I the only one who loves GTA... yeah... no...

I loved Vice City and San Andreas, but hated 4. I don't know which I hated more about it; All the attention whore NPCs or the piss poor job they did porting it to PC.

What I liked most about VC and SA was the stories. It was a simple tale told in a very grand fashion.

Am I really going to have to use this again?

As for me personally? I have no real interest in the series, but don't look down on people who do.

Where on earth did you get that idea? GTA has been an incredibly popular series for like a decade now.

If you really require comfort and confirmation, just wait for the GTA5 sales figures. They're gonna be big.

...

Oh, and personally I do not like GTA. Boring, ugly, open-world slogs.

I do. I absolutely love it. When a new GTA is released it's all I play for months. Although that wasn't the case with GTA IV because it was boring. But luckily SR2 was there to comfort me.

I like driving around in Vice City and do stupid stuff (for a limited while atleast) but i really hate almost everything about these games from story to characters to visual style, gameplay and controls. Everytime i try to play the main storyline i always end up having a miserable time, i just don't get how they are so critically acclaimed.

Hahhaahahhahaahahhahahah. No. I think it's pretty obvious you are in fact not alone. I mean I know we all like to engage in the "Am I the only one..." escapades, and then somebody says "No you're never the only one" but seriously, the only one who loves GTA? Right. ANYWAY, no GTA is awesome, San Andreas was amazing, thank you, come again.

My interest in the series went down after Vice city. SA was a good game and all, but at some point during the latter game I just felt like the main story had no point anymore.I was knocking over Casinos and flying jet fighters over area 51 and i asked myself " why do I need the combined power of 3 cities to take down two corrupt street cops and two snitch bitches"? I couldn't answer that question and at that point I just lost interest in the game and eventually stopped playing it entirely.

Of course GTA 4 didn't help matters with its Realistic(ie terrible) driving and handling which in a game with so many chase missions made it a frustrating experience.
